I've convinced myself more than once I was going to buck-up and buy an Iron Heart flannel but they’ve never had a color that worked for me. Plus the uncertainty of fit, and price hold me back. Freenote Cloth fits me great, and has been a better risk for my needs. Maybe one day I'll try out Iron Heart.

Enjoy the Freenote flannels! No need to get IH. It's just one good brand out of many. NOt all are going to work out for you.

Iron heart didn’t admit it but they aren’t releasing both styles of their flannels because their past seasons haven’t been selling out. There’s plenty of shirts from FW 23 and even 22 still available on sites in a lot of sizes. Looking forward to your flannel guide and wax jacket video. Glad you are keeping coffee with Carl going been watching you for years now.

I love iron heart very much but they need to chill on some of the prices. The jeans and denim jackets/cpo shirts are all worth the price but the flannels and hoodies and shirts need to come down

Doesn't help that the guy leading their vids seems so unenthusiastic

@@baxterperlin1984 the orange flannel Carl reviewed on the channel would suggest otherwise. Sold out pretty quick on their website. Funny cause it’s not using their aspero cotton that’s supposed to be what’s so unique about their flannels but costs the same as the ones made with aspero cotton.
@SeemeonMars4 ай бұрын
Very true they do add special unique things to their flannels but they retail for almost half the price in Japan than everywhere else. The mark up to $400 is due to the UK guys having to get paid to distribute Iron Heart. Rumors have it the owner regrets doing the partnership with them but Japanese are so loyal he remains in it. UES and the Flat head both make thick heavy flannels and don’t cost that much because they don’t have a middle man to pay. Crazy you have the Flat Head Exorcist flannel and you wear it but can’t fit the iron heart. I have the exorcist too and my uHF fits better.

Hey Carl, i trulu enjoy kicking back with a hot cup of coffee and seeing the new new on CWC! I love the laid back feeling you present in these episodes. Definitely reminds me of shooting the shit with my crew before we officially start the work day. I have been wanting to check out Iron Hearts flannels for a while now. I have a couple pairs of their denim and i love the fit and quality. Is there any chance you want to sell that western fit IH? Let me know if you are down, I would be stoked to brag to friends and family that i bought this rad flannel from the legend that is Carl. Either way, i enjoyed this episode and i look forward to the next CWC. Have a great week brother, Rob

I really enjoy your Coffee series. You are wearing my favorite color K87 Carhartt. Wish they would bring back the Blue Heather K87 color. Love that Oiled Heather color. Have the sweatshirt as well. By the way,, greetings from one of your newest Patreon members from MN...I also wish 1620 would make bigger sizes, that goes for American Giant as well. Like their stuff, but their sizing is limited. And the that Filson Mackinaw reminds me of Tetris video game...

Amen to handwarmer pockets! Though often times the execution of the dual entry patch pockets is not great - companies often don't use the main fabric to separate the top entry part from the side entry part, they'll use something thinner. Taylor Stitch and Filson have both done this on jackets I own.

Carl, you m8ght actually be understating the design of 1620 pants. I think the pant designs are brilliant! I have the single and double knee utility pants and they are awesome. The side leg pocket size can fit a full size phone with case, so can the pocket at the place where that little watch pocket would be on normal jeans, and on both sides?! Awesome. I think the best thing about the pockets is how wide the opening is. In any other pants, if I clip a onife of any size to the front pocket, pushed back toward the out leg seam, then I have to contort my hand to get it past the knife and into my pocket. Not with 1620 thought...lots of room there. I goota say too, and this is probably a bit unique to me but, their pants look better on me than any other oants I've ever owned, period. Now my wedding suit fit well but dress pants sit/drape differently. At 6'3" , 230 lb and a high cut build (35.5" inseam true inseam) these fit spectacularly!

Get a Schaeffer Outfitter for comparison while you're at it. They make great waxed jackets in a few different weights and styles, Western but some of them cross over nicely. I consider them some of the best designed and value for money waxed jackets, and the fit is very roomy without looking like it, they are cut for working in. I have the High Plains Drifter in chocolate and as much as I love my Freenote, I end up using the Schaeffer more often, due to the extra length, layer-ability, and pockets. I like a roomier flannel, I mostly buy them used in good shape from Japan, I'm not crazy about the modern slim fits meant to be worn only untucked. After a lot of buying and selling I've mostly ended up with Sugar Cane flannels, the quality is always superb, the cuts very comfortable without being too baggy or too tight, and they have some of the coolest colours and plaid designs. Thankfully they are less popular with the Heritage brand crowd than some of the other brands, they are a steal on eBay. I also love the UES ones, but have been repelled by most of their colours over the last few years - this year's are great ! I think they are the best value in Japanese flannels, superb quality and weight, and way less expensive than similar competitors - you just have to order them directly before they sell out, the markup in the US is pretty severe. Another GREAT brand for more traditional custs and patterns is Warehouse, they have some of the most beautiful large check plaids ever made, IMO.

After getting a discontinued grail button-up from eBay, after I put it on, my kids wanted me to chase them for tickle fights. Not 10 minutes after I put on my favorite shirt, the bottom side got caught on the door frame brass panel that the lock slides into. Tore a big hole. I have 15 year old Hawaiian shirts that I wear every summer that look just as new as when I got them. Never had such bad luck except the one time I paid a good chunk of change for a shirt.

Whenever I pull off my hoodie I always think of the scene in Austin Powers where Fat Bastard says “oh, look at my sexy belly” and it makes me feel slightly better. It seems like Filson has really taken Dolly Parton’s old say “it costs a lot of money to look this cheap” to heart. Why am I here? Dude, that’s a deep philosophical question that would require multiple long format videos to just begin scratching the surface, or maybe I’m just bored and I find your ramblings both informative and entertaining. I’m sure it’s one of the two.

I don't believe there's a difference between the black and white iron heart snaps just colour preference (can't say anything about the goodart snaps but I assume they're silver). I only have one iron heart shirt though with white snaps, and what they told is they only change the face of the snap cap not the male end.

This is gospel. My nephew went to Yale so I was in your spot. Modern Apizza is way better than Pepe’s. I don’t get the love for Pepe’s. It’s good but not spectacular like Modern. I take the kids every year to a Christmas train ride in Essex, CT. We always stop at Modern annually because New Haven is on the way to Essex. However as a native NYer, I can honestly say Lombardi’s in NYC is the best pizza ever. With that said, Modern is delicious & u will love it. Cheers guys.

The Articles of Style flannel shirt is not only hand made but, as the description says, it’s bespoke. Ironheart is not bespoke. You will not get a better fit than bespoke obviously. You’re paying for the service that comes with the shirt, price for that is always through the roof and I for one cannot afford bespoke anything.
@CoffeeWithCarl14 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s listed as bespoke… but what it really is, is made to measure. You send in your measurements based on a video they send you (I actually shot the video in Dans apartment with him) and then they make your garments. The big problem is that they rely on the customers ability to measure themselves, which is actually pretty tricky to get right.
