Speaking of Filson, I got the Mammoth's Leaf Monday that I bought to replace my Filson Cruiser. I have to exchange my XL for an XXL, which may end up being possible (fingers crossed), but wow, does it clean the Filson's clock. I told my partner to feel the Iron Snail jacket, then the Filson, and she laughed out loud feeling the Filson. What Michael has managed, for less money, with no economy of scale, is remarkable. It's an upgrade in every regard. Once I do have my Mammoth, I'm selling the Filson.

You know I ordered my whites from bakers and throughout the lead time I changed my mind on several specs maybe 4 times, being a pain of a customer. They were super nice, even sent me a last reminder later about “ok you’ve been quite indecisive, last chance, anything else you’ve changed your mind about?” I didn’t that last time but I ultimately received the exact specs I ended up with at my last iteration and have been extremely happy about it since. They’re great at customer service!!!!

Always like seeing the dog! I definitely know what you’re saying I used to have a guy who I went to high school with and considered my best friend but ended back stabbing me. I really like that Indigofera Copeland shirt! I’m kind of digging those Japanese tweed pants. Baker’s boots look interesting.

Indigofera is indeed something special. Last year I got the Swearengen Hickory Stripe Twill 12oz pants in gray/black. Workmanship and Details are stunning! Striped pants always give you some attention, haha! Combined with a black leather jacket and some dark Redwings these pants look awesome.

Carl, I’m an ultimate lurker (old usenet news group term) here, but have followed you since the very beginning. Heck, I even sent you a pre-paid envelope for the sticker you made with the old Henry logo. Long story but it never arrived 😢. I only posted comments a handful of times on KZbin. I saved this video to watch today after a business trip to the east coast. Little did I know that my Dad would pass away this morning, but it was very helpful during a difficult day. I showed my Dad several of your videos to show him unique products. I bought Thursday Boots Chukkas based on reviews and was crushed when you posted your squeaky Chelsea video. I was impressed with the way Thursday responded. Don’t pay attention to the 5% of haters. I LOVE collabs with brands and my fav KZbin-ers. You introduced me to Albert and Dave Himmel. I’m indebted to you for that. I even tried to convolve those two into a grail jacket for my 60th birthday, but life intervened. Maybe 65… My ONLY criticism is that I live in the 🌵 desert and can’t wear many of the items and am the ultimate white collar (physicist and corporate sales) person that can’t pull off work wear. Please keep doing what you do. The silent minority appreciate your perspective… Sean Hames Loafers Rule!!!
@CoffeeWithCarl17 күн бұрын
Hahaha than you Sean, we may disagree on loafers but I sincerely appreciate your comments and thoughts. My condolences for your loss- that's a big one. If you'd like, I can send you a sticker to make up for that old one WAAAY back in the day.

Agreed, I can't say enough good things about Baker's boots. Also worth noting that they usually have two sales per year on Whites boots, to the tune of 20% off (Black Friday and father's day, I believe.). I've got 4 pairs of custom bounty hunters and counting. BOOT ADDICTION IS REAL!!

Life’s all about finding some semblance of balance, be it in the digital or physical world and understanding both the pros and cons of whatever is in your currently taking your attention. The internet, for all the good things it does, also has tons of negatives, it’s just important that we keep these things in mind. The Indigofera shirt is a real nice looking shirt and you’re absolutely right about them getting somewhat overlooked. The Thursday jacket definitely gives me a throwback vibe to the 90s, which honestly bums me out a little because the 90s shouldn’t be retro, I’m not that old, lol. Loved seeing Chloe in the video, she’s a good looking pup! Hope you have a great week Carl.

I own one of those Filson lined cape coats from the previous run. Like all my Filson jackets I purchased on sale. I agree it would be great if it was made of shearling but then it would be packer coat priced of over $1K. I can tell you it is absolutely warm and the sherpa lining does dry quickly from sweat. IMPORTANT NOTE in sizing, I'm a XXL in everything Filson. But anything more than a regular flannel shirt under this is tight even with the "relaxed fit" cut. The sherpa lining is thick and full so if your close to the measurement limit, I would recommend sizing up.

Sizing runs the gamut. Right now I'm wearing a Gustin Japanese wool flannel that fit's me perfectly in XXL. Brave star is the same XXL or XXXL for their Ironside jackets. The weird part is I'm only 5'6" 185 but with a 49" chest and a 38" waist. I bought a SMW N-1 deck jacket with a 50" chest but having received it it actually measures 58" chest. All of these are made in Los Angelus with Japanese and American fabric which may not matter but I don't have that problem often.

Great stuff Carl, one day I will subscribe to your Patreon when ready. Also, I think everyone should go to professional therapy. It can be expensive without coverage, but doing it will change your life for the better. You will understand yourself better, and know things that you had all along that you never even thought you ever had. Also, will never buy Filson ever unless it's dirt cheap. Too many better alternatives out there today, especially second hand 👍👍

Just got my “brawlers “ in yesterday. They are very impressive. I was worried at first because I could only get my hands on a pair of size 7’s instead of a 7.5 that I usually get in boots. But there is plenty of space in the toe box. I usually wear a 7.5 in Truman’s and red wings, sometimes I can pull off a 7. These brawlers are very roomy. Had I got a 7.5 I probably would’ve had to wear thicker socks.

What I’ve learned from the sewer we call the comments section is people aren’t posting opinions. To them, their opinions are hard, indisputable facts. They are always right, and you can’t argue with them. The comments section is full of alpha level experts.

Come now Filson. That jacket needs a wool or alpaca lining. FWIW, I my sold both my double mackinaws. A Filson and a Woolrich. Not enough wind resistance for the weight. Replaced them with a TAD Deck Jacket. On sale for under $300. No wool/alpaca, but the price was right.
@knifenutsdave13 күн бұрын
The sad thing is the lined Cape Coat has been enshittified. I have one from a previous run, it had at least a partially wool blend "shearling" and Primaloft Gold in the sleeves. Both of those are gone. The most amusing part is the previous run of these, which were objectively better in materials, sold poorly enough to eventually be sold at a 50% discount direct from Filson. Now they're bringing back a worse version, for $100 more. Do not pay full price for this one!

Hello Carl. That Thursday Jacket is pretty sweet but I need a new jacket about as much as I need to knees broken which is probably what my girlfriend would do to me if I got that jacket. I've never had much luck with fitting Thursday boots and living in Canada the returns/exchanges process is easy but not free. I will say, I am a human endowed with an imperfect figure and when I've gone on Thursday's website to look at how a top/jacket fits on a human their models look like guys who make KZbin videos on what to wear to attract women which has not always given me good insight as to how their clothes would fit my gelatinous body.
