it was incredible. i was shocked at how much artillery and infantry there was. and right after the union soldiers fired their last shots, IT RAINED. i cried. it was exactly how it happened when LEE retreated. i doubt in my lifetime that there will be another event like this anywhere. I will cherish this forever. the folks who wore those hot uniforms and honored the men who fought 150 years ago are to be congratulated. it was as moving an event as i have ever witnessed.

You are correct, but did you know that at that time, we did not have that protocol that we have today for our flag. There is an original photo of Lincoln and McCellan in a meeting in a tent and they are using it as a table cloth. We in the Civil War community highly respect that flag, but we portray the accuracies of the 1860s as authentically as we can.

Hold the line, hold the friends, keep the bond. Discard the bile spat out by hollow souls, but remeber their names. Thank you for your time and dedication to bring history to so many new friends.

Our unit the 12th US Infantry Co A can be seen in this at the 2:57 mark. From the soldier holding the flag the first person to the right (really tall) is Grant Dennis, the 5th one down is my wife (aka Marty) with me right behind her (cant be seen) and the 8th down is our 1st Sgt. Neil. The fawn that was running around was spooked out of the high grass by us. We felt so bad for the poor thing.

Sir, I must confess that I do not know if African Americans participated in that battle. I'm not sure if any African American regiments were present at that specific battle. Perhaps you can find out and post your finding here.

There are different ways to determine that. if you are hot and tired, do it. If you are creating a certain scenario where you know what originally happened to the regiment, re-create that. if you are playing war games or an open tactical, it the other guy gets the drop on you, act accordingly. Have fun and educate!

I was at this event, and my only complaint was that in the main Union camp there was way to much canvas as well as other conveniences. The army would have had to lug all that stuff around with it if they had brought it on campaign and no one wanted to do that. The same goes for the CS camp, to much canvas.

What are you talking about not realistic at 6:28? People didn't walk in 1863? That is what is there.

yes, some are, but we are cautious about some of the things we do. Somebody has to keep history alive so overweight or not, that is our goal.

Murray's Brigade camps (Iron Brigade / 1st Maryland / 150th NY) were rock soiid. Minimal canvas. Many shebangs and a lot of guys just sleeping on the ground with no cover but the canvass of the leaves.

Jerk Huh! You have no idea who I am and you better watch yourself! Slavery was a sad time in our history, but every man woman and child that lived in that era is dead and gone, so don't dump this on me because you have no idea about my past and I don't dump on you. Talk about the problem, look in the mirror as you say Fool
