02 Lumion 4d Animation Tutorial Part 2: Sky Drop

4D Animations are great ways to impress your viewers and they can also be very useful for visualizing the construction sequence.
Lumion provides multiple ways to perform this effect, and this a great and simple option for excellent results.
Unfortunately I do not own the rights to this model I use, otherwise use another model with structural details, or try making the structure yourself. Revit provides an example architectural and structural model that could be of good use for this practice as well.

Yes, its a balance of the during and speed sliders. You will basically have to have the pieces come in so fast they basically pop into place. Wish there was more control.

Do you know also that you can reorder the your playlist by going into My Channel > clicking into the playlist and moving the cursor over the section directly to the left of the number of the track until it turns to a Cross Arrow Cursor. Then just click and drag to reorder. Hope you don't mind me pointing that out. Every time I come back to this playlist I have trouble finding the video I want. Must be all the numbers in the titles messing with, what could be, my slightly dyslexic head :)

Hey thanks for the feedback. This was my 3rd video I ever made and definitely learned to slow it down. Annotation is a good idea. I've been trying to leave timestamps on my latest videos. Maybe I'll try and work with the older ones as well. Going to revisit all of these topics very soon as well. (slower ;) )

Hi, these are great tutorials... would you please give me some advice please, im using lumion 8 and trying the above tutorial steps, but my problem came on the selection point, after I've made all pieces into one position with aligning tools, all the object selection point was superimposed between one another , and the last object selection was the above, so I unable to select another object individually... please correct me, thanks..

Hi Chris, sorry to bother you again but can this effect be achieved by using Sketchup? The client is proposing to model the building using Sketchup for me to import and create this effect in Lumion. Is that possible?

absolutely. You just need to break the model into individual pieces to save and import into Lumion. It works the same as Revit.

You just need to isolate and export each piece individually.

I apologize. This was one of my first tutorials and back then felt I needed to show every step, but in order to fit it in I had to speed it all up. Learned that it makes it much more confusing. My last video in this series using the advanced move I made sure to slow down the important parts. It may look fast, but I only speed up the part where I keep doing the same thing over and over again. I should've just skipped it. I used to have annotations, but it looks like I deleted them. I will go in and add some key steps.

I will admit though. The skydrop method is the simplest method for 4d animation. Just break aprt your model, import all of your pieces into Lumion seperately, align them, and by holding control and toggling up and down (since they all share the same origin) select each piece in the order you want them to appear, and use the sliders on the sky drop effect to adjust its speed and that's it. Super easy. Hope that helps ;)
