Mercy ! That is one huge pile of fermenting vegetation. Nice video and impressive operations.

Very impressive! What goes in must come out and the window to apply manure is almost as short as the window for harvest. Please post videos of the manure hauling operation too. Thanks!

+Steven Sibbel Would love to see that too. Hauling shit is one of my favorite jobs.

99% of the manure is liquid and is pumped through a drag hose. I was hoping to get video of that operation this fall, but I wasn't able to. I will try harder to next year!

Very nice video! Looks like you guys had a good season. How'd you like that Xerion on the pile? Was that a demo unit or did you guys buy it? Just curious cause I've thought those would make pretty nice packing tractors with crab steering and everything.
@aaronzenner98889 жыл бұрын
+SWMinnesotaFarmer We just demoed the Xerion, it was pretty neat, and surprisingly easy to get used to. Its not very practical for everything else that we use our 4wd's for but it was cool to run one for a little while.

what are the things the John Deere are towing over the chaff?
@tuckerlyons82357 жыл бұрын
They are tow graders that deposit silage into holes where the silage didn't go into, they also help smooth the pile to compact it more.

So what happens if it starts to rain? Can you cover it somehow?
@aaronzenner98888 жыл бұрын
No, we don't cover it at all if it rains, that is just too much work for how big the piles are
@samkom336 жыл бұрын
well i guess eventually you cover it,, ore else you end up with a pile of compost after a few months.. hehe

@sandrakessler86868 жыл бұрын

definately never seen a 4wd pulling a blade on top of a silage pile before. holy crap... Sad to see deere and even a class 4wd but not case. still a great video. Put a case quad track with a real size blade on it.
@aaronzenner98888 жыл бұрын
+Andy Hass The 4wd's with the box scrapers are a huge help with leveling the faces of the pile and dragging feed up to the top. The area that we are in is mostly John Deere, so we naturally have them too. At one of the other dairy sites in this system, they have two red quads with blades on them. They can push to beat hell, but they don't pack and the tracks will rooster tail silage as they back down the pile, leaving the surface rough and loose.

@aaronzenner98889 жыл бұрын
The dairy is named Dublin because it is in Dublin township in western Minnesota
@MrT79shakeshake9 жыл бұрын
Er No The Fields in Ireland are nowhere near as big, we mainly make grass silage here, not so much Corn or Maize as we call it.
