Cyanotypes on Tree Stumps

Cyanotypes on tree stumps, watch the magic! Use these instructions for cyanotypes on wood.
Supplies:
Cyanotype kit from Jacquard.com
Pressed leaves
Sheet glass
Container to mix chemicals in
Measuring spoons
Brush
Paper, fabric, rock, or wood to treat
Buckets or wash bins or water cans for water to rinse off the chemicals

Suggest anyone wanting to try this that you start it just as night is falling, then you can take your time with the application and positioning, it will allow time to dry, and you don't have to wrestle with a cardboard box in one hand! Lovely result, Linda - enjoying your projects. 😁

Very cool! Wish I had tree stumps to try this on. Some ideas that popped into my head while watching this- coat the stump with chemicals at night using flashlight to see what you’re doing. Then after it’s dry, add your leaves and glass, and let it expose when the sun comes up in the morning.

Thanks. Yes, I did think of setting up at night. You have to let the chemicals dry before you put down the leaves and glass or you'll get condensation under the glass, but I think I might try it next time. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

That looks great. How long did it last?

It is still visible 3 months later. It got darker so the contrast between the leaves and the background is slight. It was fun as a pop up art installation because a bunch of Ash trees got diseased and had to be cut down in my neighborhood. This is on a public path so some people got to see it before weeds grew up around it. Some people suggested I should have sealed it. Who knows if that would do anything to preserve it or not.
