Cyber City Zone, Act 1 (Death Egg Zone Remix) - Sonic The Hedgehog 2: CD

I really don't like the original Death Egg Zone music in Sonic 2, so I decided to make something entirely new while keeping some of it intact, even added the original all crunched up as a bonus.
Fun fact: The actual background uses palette cycling, but I couldn't get it working properly for the video because I have to redo the entire code for the palette cycle and the background movement itself. I'll get those things done for the next one, don't worry.

This is the first time I've seen someone pick a correct theme for a Cyber City/Genocide City remix. I've only ever seen people remix Casino Night 2P because of the extremely inaccurate version in Sonic 2 Long Version.

​@@RatchetAndClank14 I wouldn't say that goes against the theme being meant for Cyber City. Scrap Brain's demo also has a slight cosmic vibe, yet that's a mechanical level too. Plus the Sonic 2 demos have what I would consider "conflicting" elements. The 2P result theme has some jungle elements, implying it could've been for Wood Zone. Yet Mystic Cave 2P has an overall safari vibe, which that alone could fit any of the lost levels. Yes, it was used in Hidden Palace for awhile, I'm aware. But let's pretend it's not for the sake of the discussion.

Thanks man! The interior is formed by a combination of Metallic Madness Present and Bad Future's Act 1 / Act 2 backgrounds, while the exterior mishmashes Titanic Monarch's lower level buildings for closeup and Chemical Plant's far buildings for the distant city. Of course all of this while going for the limited palette of Cyber City overall, and retaining the dystopian theme of it.

I’m a bit late to comment on this, but holy hell this might be my favourite track from you. You actually used the correct theme for Cyber City unlike folks who use CNZ2P for some reason. And the track itself is absolutely amazing. Sounds like a combination of Wacky Workbench and Metallic Madness. It perfectly gives the tone of an Eggman-corrupted South Island. It’s immaculate.

Follow up question. I too know far too much about sonic prototypes and unused content. How did you arrive at your colour scheme for Genocide city? Given its nature i like to pretend in my mind what genocidecity would have been like.

There were a bunch of images of leaked assets floating around. And a lot of the stage was repurposed for Sonic Spinball's "The Machine" level.

I was 6 in 91 so I was lucky enough to watch Nick arcade using sonic prototypes on TV. I can literally spend hours taking about this kinda stuff.
