if only any crack was as simple as xoring machine id with text phrase etc.. however sometimes with bad protection, its as easy as finding a certain routine and hex editing one (or a few) instruction(s) to be a NOP instead maybe. But there is a lot more to learn here for most, but good intro to basic reversing. I know 0.001% about the world of modern copy protection, this stuff is mostly pretty high level with all the good protection schemes now, besides just packing and whatnot. There are some very strong systems out there, but usually the problem is enforcement of this, without slowing the software down significantly by putting the checks everywhere in the code, etc.

As a software developer, I believe that people should pay for the software they use, because if nobody pays, software cannot advance, however, I don't like when some companies like "Adobe" charges monthly fees for offline software, it would be more logical to pay for an update, but monthly or yearly for the same software, I don't pay a subscription to use my computer or my fridge, and so it should be the same for software. For example Apple sells Final cut pro for a one time fee of 300$, while Adobe charges you every year or month, for the same Programs, If I want the additional Cloud storage, I should opt-in for it.
