Thank you for this valuable webinar. It’s one of the most practical and translatable resources I’ve found about the subject. My daughter is 18 and recently diagnosed with meningioma (after a sudden seizure). They did surgery but weren’t able to remove due to location/active vessels so now recommend gamma knife radiation. Her tumor is 3.3cm but we pray the radiation will control growth. They are also hoping radiation may re-route some of the blood flow in vessels in the tumor (venous occlusion). This way another surgery could be done to remove it. How common might it be to see venous occlusion from radiation?

Venous occlusion after radiosurgery is rare, but can occur in cases where the tumor swells temporarily after the radiation

Thank you so much! She did have gamma knife but still very much in the trenches here with refractory epilepsy

@@stevendchangmd6447thank you, sadly it didn’t happen for her. We are no further along than when she was diagnosed 3 years ago other than collecting many more bad memories. Praying we will find another option for medication to shrink these tumors

I have had radio surgery for a tumor above the ear for vertigo but I have two tumors on top of my brain One that is a singular tumor and the other one being a mass of tumors making a tumor. My neurosurgeon didn’t offer any alternative treatments.. should I be concerned?

Add on : Dr Chang, I also have rheumatoid arthritis for years, on Injectable RASUVO. This will stop during the cyberknife, I will be given Prednisone while having this surgery. Worrisome for me because I have osteoporosis. Can you please input if this prednisone is routine for a patient receiving cyber knife surgery? Thank you

Hi Tess, I can look at your scans to see if you are a candidate for Cyberknife. Please send an email to veevo@stanford.edu.

Dr Chang, thank effort your response. I have seen the oncologist last month, I was told that i will have the radiation for 6 weeks except Saturday and Sunday. I will have simulation next week after MRI. Am not sure if I could get the scan result. Can you please comment about my case?

Sir, can 3.5 cm meningioma be treated with cyberknife? What is the success rate?

Good afternoon. 1 doubt. Can cyberknife be used for meningioma in plac? Does It have a casuistic or study in this line of treatment? Thanks for attention.
@stevendchangmd6447 Жыл бұрын
The Cyberknife can be used for nearly all types of meningiomas. We would need to review your most recent MRI scan for a more detailed opinion.
