Bought this along with a 7700X for my first pc build. People arguing that NVIDIA’s pricing for their gpus are too much are the same people that refuse to awknowledge AMD and even Intel in the market. If you want nvidia to change, the market needs to begin buying from the underdogs. Only when AMD and Intel hold a massive position in the gpu space will nvidia be compelled to be more competitive with them

bought a 7800xt less than a month ago, upgrading for a 3060ti because I had a buyer, and even though my cpu is not up to snuff and could really use a 7800x3d, it still was quite a performance lift, without even using upscalers lol

The 7800 XT is marginally better in performance than the 6800 XT, and they are priced the same. Considering that two years have passed, AMD is keeping pace with Nvidia in terms of pricing

I will say this card absolutely can do 1440p Raytracing much better than defaulting to Ultra everything. Using Hardware Unboxed's settings for both raytracing and general settings, you can avg 50-60 fps. Especially when you toss in XeSS

On the contrary I'm surprised the RT performance isn't a bit better. I have a 3080 12GB and it's getting about 5-8% lower raw performance on 1440p, but with raytracing enabled the 3080 has roughly 65% increase over what's shown here for 1440p RT FSR2, and 190% higher than what's shown here for 4K RT FSR2. This is on a 5900X as well, compared to OP's 7800x3d, I figured that paired with the 7800XT would have much higher RT perf. than this.

@@addictedtoRS NVidia has better RT hardware than AMD that's why you're getting that uplift with RT On. AMD doesn't have dedicated RT Cores to off load the process, it's basically rawdogging everything and running absolutely on horsepower alone. Makes me wonder how AMD will tackle that with RDNA4. Really hoping they would come up with the RT Core equivalent for rdna.

7800XT doubled performance from my 5700XT. I'm plenty satisfied with the upgrade. I didn't expect much on the ray tracing side but was surprised to see it has the ability to do some.

If you turn clouds and fog to medium you can get stable mid 50s FPS on medium RT.

@ryankappel1245 I am running Fortnite on high settings, epic view with ray tracing. I run shadows. Cyberpunk I couldn't get more than 30FPS with ray tracing but I didn't spend time optimizing settings. Forza I am running ray tracing at 60fps though.

@@Ryzenberg78 Its doable. I spent alot of time tinkering with different settings to get a good squeeze out of RT while keeping above 50 FPS and not sacrificing too much on visuals. Im running on an odyssey G9 monitor 1440p. 7800X3D and 32GB DDR5. Honestly. Its cool having the RT up enough to notice it. But its also kind of only really noticable if youre taking your time to take in the scenery and playing tourist in Night City or during cut scene RP stuff.

you will probably be able to get playable fps with the new frame gen, soon as it is properly implemented ofc but still imo it's not worth losing all that performance just for ray tracing. native 1440p with high setting should look and play great for most games in most people's eyes i believe.

at 4k the 4090 gets 20fps if you do path tracing without upscaling and frame gen and it does around 60 with those two on. if that card does so poorly with path tracing i don't think the 7800xt will get you good results in 1440p. path tracing looks better in most scenarios but it surely isn't worth the performance hit. plus the frame gen won't do much if you don't already hit 60fps and upscaling when you are below 4k looks worse, especially with fsr. probably a much better experience to play native 1440p with high or ultra settings

I have the same combo, 7800x3d + rx 7800xt, as well as 16x2 6000mhz cl 30 memory, all overclocked and the processor and video card with oc and undervolt and I simply get something around 64-72 fps in 4k, with ray tracing, 45fps, with fsr, 50-55fps..something is not right

It is maybe 5% better in brand new games on average. But it uses less power, has better support and newer tech so theres no reason to even consider a 6800 XT.

It's doubling performance from a 5700XT at 1440P Ultra. Using FSR It's capable of light ray tracing if it's wanted. I am happy with the upgrade myself ...

I got the 7800XT and it's been a game changer. 2x faster than my 5700XT, support for advanced decoding in my editing software & AV1 encoding, and mine runs so cool that the fans almost never turn on; vs the blower fan on my old GPU that was noisy as heck. Someone needing to cope is someone that's gone through something negative.
