Hell instead of spending 3.5K on RTX3090 would spend 5K on Quadro A6000. At-least I get better bragging rights and won't be supporting scalpers by doing so. Better deal I guess.

the A6000 it's a fantastic card, but it's more focused on professionals workloads, in fact it has lower memory and clock speed, due also to lower TDP and heat dissipation capacity. The Geforce (gaming) cards performs better due to higher clocks which are more important for fps. Besides that the GPU die is the same GA102.

How would the A6000 compare to two 3090s with NV LINK (for deep learning)?
@HeatonResearch
@HeatonResearch 3 жыл бұрын
I think that is a key question, but not one that I have the hardware to answer. My theory is, that for something like GANs, where you do not need 48GB on a single GPU (mirrored), 2 3090s will be superior. For something like a Blazing SQL, where it ones one large cache, the A6000 will be superior. These are just unproven speculations.

Contemplating on the mayhem you caused to the power grid, definitely something new to the gamer realm. Can we also get an approximate description of how the GPU performs noise-wise at idle and under normal load in such a case with ample airflow a few feet away from the user? Like does it sound terrible, bearable, or can a good pair of stereo speakers or headphones eliminate the noise?

$4,649 launch price. It has the full GA102 (628 mm²) core but lower memory speed 16 Gbps vs 19.5 Gbps. In summary I spect best case scenario exactly same performance as the RTX 3090, worse case scenario a little bit slower. I wonder if that ECC memory is better (or worse) for overclocking though!

Yes and no, on paper it would seem to be the case but if I remember correctly Nvidia don't want their a6000 to be used for gaming purposes and have added driver updates to try and stop you from gaming on it whereas the 3090 is designed for gaming and has a lot more support for it both from Nvidia drivers and from games themselves.

Fair enough. However, I really blame some of the shortage more on Crypto miners than gamers. Ideal gamer and crypto GPUs seem to overlap. What graphics setting does the game have? Is ray tracing on?

I did some further experimentations, based on other comments. The video was with default game settings, I bumped the preset to raytracing: ultra, and I got around 50 FPS.

@@HeatonResearch i found thus on the internet "While the Nvidia RTX A6000 has a slightly better GPU configuration than the GeForce RTX 3090, it uses slower memory and therefore features 768 GB/s of memory bandwidth, which is 18% lower than the consumer graphics card (936GB/s), so it will not beat the 3090 in gaming. Meanwhile, because the RTX A6000 has 48GB of DRAM onboard, it will perform better in memory-hungry professional workloads." www-tomshardware-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.tomshardware.com/amp/news/nvidia-rtx-a6000-48gb-benchmarked?amp_js_v=a6&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=16130673872954&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tomshardware.com%2Fnews%2Fnvidia-rtx-a6000-48gb-benchmarked

Hi Jeff I loved your video its amazing how someone who is working on mashine learning gets into gaming. I am gamer myself moving into programming area. I was wondering if you could possibly have any advice on programming languages? I am basically trying to use all of my 24 cores (or as many as possible) in ryzen 9 5900x on win10 to run simple code in python that does calculations on huge numbers. Unfortunately it uses just around 5% of my CPU each time so opening number of instances of python to run more codes is the only way I know to utilise that power. Would you have any tips on improving that 5% usage for single code?
