The one thing that really sets this apart is we finally get to see just a sliver of what the blackwall is capable of after hearing all through the base game about how catastrophic a breach in the blackwall would be for humanity. I played through this entire section with my jaw to the floor and all I could mutter was wow... 10/10 moment, one of my favorites in not just Phantom Liberty, but in all of Cyberpunk 2077.

Data migration to primary matrix - complete." ... which would imply the gateway is basically devouring the target. Suffice to say, from the looks of it it's very horrific way to go. Honestly the new ending kind of confirms that it's possible for the biochip to be cured through means other than Arasaka. The new ending is really just another version of the Arasaka ending in my opinion. I think the Panam ending is still the best, we know it's possible for other groups to possibly cure v and with the connections that the nomads have you could find it. She probably told one of the staff members at the moon, to drop the capsule, with the souvenir and the cyberware, and text V to look at the place that reminds her of "Home", moments before she died, as it was the only thing she could do, to thank V. Of course its just a theory, but Reed said himself, the only thing that awaits Songbird on the moon, is death.

This story and ending was extremely emotional for me and I can't get my mind off it. I'm very glad I chose to save So Mi, especially seeing the Reed ending with all her memories and her pleading to die over being tortured by the NUSA. She didnt deserve that or to be a puppet forced to lose herself in the Blackwall. V was delt bad by Dex, but So Mi's torture was on another level and her wings were clipped, she couldn't fly. Like V, she was dying and was short on time, and her having a chance at survival is the better ending to me. V still has hope through Panam or Mr. Blue Eyes to survive, if this ending is anything to go by. Mr. Blue Eyes got So Mi the ticket to Tycho and is present in the facility, and is present standing on the rooftop with a umbrella during the train station fight. If anything, this makes the Crystal Palace ending a lot more canonical than any of the others to me. I naturally chose the ending with the Aldecaldos, but maybe in my current new playthrough I will trust him instead to stick with So Mi. Its nice to know that she survived and is living safe on Tycho city. She contacts V later telling them to go to the "place that reminded her of home" where a Tycho City pin and her Cyberdeck are stored away. Not only has this DLC been fun but it shows that not only Arasaka or Mikoshi can help V and that makes their story feel a lot more hopeful than just walking off with no chrome after surviving a two year coma and losing everyone, or potentially dying within six months. Whatever comes next, I hope we see more of So Mi and Mr. Blue Eyes, or a reference to what happens to V in Cyberpunk Orion hopefully.

My preferred ending tbh, not just because I sympathize with Song as a character, but what it means for her. Does it matter that she wasn't completely honest with V about the neural matrix? Sure, it kinda hurts, but at that point the matrix is her only chance of getting a "second chance" as she called it. She can't storm Arasaka, she has no access to Mikoshi, or Alt. V has all those options, so it made sense to me to free her life from NUSA, and Meyers specifically. To put it as simply as possible, our girl got tired of being used by a corp (in this case, by Myers) to access beyond blackwall for personal gain (game makes sure to mention it multiple times), to Song's own deterriment. That kind of desperation is understandable, and familiar to V. So, to me, it only made sense to help Song possibly get her life back.
@gatts1989 Жыл бұрын
She only confessed because she felt she was at a blink of dying, but if that wasn't the case, she would dissapear a never told V anything about the matrix. V would be waiting for a cure that would never came, because the person he/she trusted betrayed him. Her feelings can be understandable, but that doesn't make her actions less punishable.
@mnedogoda Жыл бұрын
I don't think Song knew about the "single use" of the matrix until she actually got her hands on that Cynosure thing and extracted it in mission Firestarter, at least that's what I got from her dialogue, so the timing was kinda awkward, with both her and V being on the run, I kinda choose to believe she simply didn't have the opportunity to come clean earlier, plus she obviosuly was hurt afterwards, both physically and mentally.

At this point, my character would've done everything to save her. i guess that her "revelation" in the train wasn't a big surprise for me, but she remains honest when she could've said nothing to V and disappear in the spaceship. People saying this isn't the good ending really need to look more into the events of the dlc and all the endings. This is the best ending. So Mi is cured (you get a message and present from her later that confirms it) Alex survives and eventually leaves the FIA (you go and speak to her in a quest after this ending where she tells you she's been ordered to kill you and you can give her the coin as proof. You get a postcard from her where she says she threw the coin away. So your actually on good terms with her.) Some people say So Mi is starting a war. Yes maybe she is starting a war but it was Myers who forced So Mi to do the extremely ilegal shit. Why should So Mi be forced to spend the rest of her life in a living hell just to protect Myers' illegal secrets. The NUSA and FIA are not the good guys. I think they dlc made that pretty clear. No party is wholly good, but So Mi just wants to be free and to have a chance at an actual life. I think that's something V can relate to heavily. V and So Mi's situations are very similar with one key difference. V choose this life and had to deal with the consequences. So Mi was forced into it. She has never had a choice. She could never walk away at any point like V could have and now the shit she was forced to do is killing her.

So Mi isn't one of the good guys too at least she has a good heart. In the other ending you see what she really is. Before FIA and NUSA she started out simple, a small fry, but she is manipulative, selfish, a liar, and estranges herself from others; the FIA and NUSA amplified that. Reed found her because she was about to be backed into a corner and would of been screwed. Reed gave her resources, honed her skills, and treated her like a daughter; however, FIA and NUSA treat their pawns like tools and they kept pushing her boundaries to the point she needed to escape. So Mi really needed to die because the damage she caused too much damage and she will only be seen as a tool, so killing her is really setting her free.

There is no "good" ending - it's all ambiguous, as neither side is entirely in the right or wrong. You either help someone who has gone to extremes in order to save their own life, something which V can surely understand better than most, or you act not only in the interests of justice but also to your own, instead of saving someone who desperately needs your help. That's precisely what makes the story great though. The world is rarely so black and white, and having a game with decisions reflecting the moral grey of most things in life is far more realistic and satisfying to experience than the constant good vs evil we often see in fiction.
@thermicterror2951 Жыл бұрын
It's definitely grey still yeah but this is the best ending if you look more into it. If you give songbird back to Myers her life will be hell. She says herself it's a fate worse than death. In the betray song bird spare her route you find out the nusa weren't able to figure out how to use the AI the way songbird intended to and as such couldn't save her that way. That's how they're able to use it to cure V. Reed says they saved her another way but he doesn't disclose what that way was. Just that she is alive and that's all that matters. It's entirely possible they used their own version of soul killer on her turning her into an AI. Or they managed to repair her body somehow. Either way it probably wasn't good for song. You also find out in the new ending that reed has been completely cut off from song for quite sometime which in itself is bad. What he says about the treatment is also troubling. Its likely that they have brainwashed song and the song we knew is gone. In the credits of the new ending in the message from reed to V we see that even 2 years later reed is still torturing himself over what he did to song and is still having to convince himself that it was the right thing to do but is clearly failing. Johnny says in the betray reed, give song to reed route when you go to meet reed near the desert that reed will hang himself once it all finally kicks in. If you do what reed wants and betray song alex dies. In this ending Alex lives and even ends up on good terms with you and leaves the fia. The actual ending where V gets cured is not a good ending at all. The point of that ending was to show that despite V being on deaths door V had so much to lose. By not being around he negatively impacted everyone that cares about him/her. Judy was heart broken and had to move on cause she couldn't manage on her own. Panam was furious and doesn't want to see V anymore. Misty lost her shop and is leaving night city, vik sold out to a corp and became soft. River made bad choices and doesn't want to see V. Keri is doing fine but doesn't have time to see V anymore. V also has to try and start a new life. Something that will be hard for someone as famous as them. He lost everything in the pursuit of a longer life. All the video messages at the end are negative as well. This ending is on par with the sucide ending for how depressing it is. With the save songbird ending you do eventually get a text from her telling you to go back to her favorite place. There is a capsule there containing a fancy piece of cyberware for you and a souvenir from the city she went to on the moon. So unlike when the nusa tried to use the tech on her song was clearly able to use it to save herself if you go this route since she doesn't get as fucked up. Since her condition is not the same as yours there's also the chance that her nerves weren't screwed by the ai and she can still use cyberware.

@@thermicterror2951 The best outcome is Songbird's death after betrayal. Betrayal - because she wanted to sacrifice people in the stadium. There were many civilians there. And the killing is out of mercy, because Songbird suffered too much. After that, you go to destroy Arasaka solo and meet Mr. Blue Eyes. It couldn't be better.

Yes but if you do that Alex dies, songbird loses control, and kills tons of people anyway, reed is fired and blames you for songbirds death. All of myers dirty secrets are secure. My preferred ending after Reed came out as a liar and a deceiver. In Farida's clinic, where he gives you his "heart-to-heart" talk, he mentions he will do everything to help Songbird disappear, once captured. Simultaneously, in case you follow his plan with the ICEbreaker & meet with him at the gas station after giving up So Mi, he mentions she will live and return to active duty, meaning it was a play all-along to get her under Myers' leash. Meaning that only Songbird came clean to you of all the agency trash you had to deal with through the DLC.

Well, songbird used us as well. The neuromatrix can be used only once and she planned to use that to cure herself, not V. While may be NUSA are cunts as well, but they'll fix V eventually. This DLC is like witcher 3 blood and wine, so much content and so incredibly well done. I got this ending too and when the credits rolled it legit made me feel things like i had just watched a 10/10 movie. For me this ending fits the best because you can still do the Johnny secret arasaka ending or the Panam ending after it, and it makes sense to me that V, even though he usually kills people who lie and fuck him over, would see that she did not do it for simple greed, she was desperate for her life and freedom from people who saw her as a technological tool to be used and discarded and so she did terrible things. I think V would see himself in her because that's what V does the entire game, kills people, lies, cheats and steals to stay alive and to inch one step at a time towards freedom and survival. So to me forgiving this one person who he sees himself in and helping her anyways after she fucked him is V acknowledging his own human faults. How he was just like Reed and Myers and forgiving himself as well as her as he heads into the final leg of his journey. He tells Reed "You aint doin this for the NUS or Myers, you're doing this for you alone" that was V before this DLC- he wanted to get rich, survive the soul killer relic, and become a night city legend and told himself whatever horrible things he did would be worth it, but in this ending he grows beyond that. The ends no longer justify the means, even if it means giving up on a possible cure for himself. Maybe i'm rambling but i thought this ending was really beautiful. CDPR once again elevating the medium of video games.

utltimately, this ending is about compassion and being to loyal to what really matters, the truth, and the victims of this universe. In the whole story, various playthroughs of an original game I've never felt anybody was an equal match to V, whether romanceable was the character or not. There is literally no single person who has a goal, a purpose, who made tough and wrong choices and had to deal with them thereafter. There was no person who was used over and over again due to something under they sole possession, noone that meant harm to nobody and yet had to choose whom to betray as V had to. Throughout the story we didn't even fully realise that Song was this person, until the few last chapters. Her confession in the train was the finishing stroke as our equal - she just got used to give zero trust to others, just like V, especially after Dex and the Konpeki heist. And that particular moment, even after her confession, still feeling that her life worths sacrificing our own - this makes this ending the true jewel among all the others, no matter the outcomes.

The game eschews traditional "good" or "bad" endings for two unique branches: "Bittersweet" and "Realistic," each with minor variations. The Bittersweet ending imparts a positive feel, whereas the Realistic one provides additional backstory. A particular choice in both routes unlocks a new main ending with an unexpected twist. Having played both paths, the Realistic one is not only shorter and significantly tougher, complete with a couple jump-scares, but it also enriches So Mi and Reed's relationship backstory. I always thought that "don't fear the reaper" is the proper way to go out with a boom, solving problems by yourself. so I agreed to help her without any expectations for a cure. Yet for a brief moment I was tiny bit bummed. But not about the lack of cure, rather her lying to V. So it is understandable if some were disappointed in her. But looking back to interactions with So Mi, it was obvious she deeply regrets on the inside for lying, sometimes lashing out on V for it as she feels tormented by his/her kind and honest responses and optimism where V says He/She trusts her, or moments where So Mi is mutely shaking her head when V talks about cure. I couldn't be mad at her because she didn't lie out of spite or with the intention of hurting V, and I agreed with Johnny that her determination to commit acts she herself did not like to do, commanded some respect. Probably that's why I choosed the same "Would've helped you anyway" line. So Mi saw herself when she learned about V, the only kindred spirit with the same or even stronger determination than her, probably partly why she contacted V in the first place too: respect. My theory is that the only thing she did not expect is to get attached to V, seeing more in common than just strongwill and building further up the already present guilt in herself. Also V was the only "real" person she could talk to about her hardships and past, (especially while Kurt and his men were breathing on her neck daily) unlike Myers or the loyal dogs of the FIA like Reed, who was unwilling to put So Mi above his duty (he was the same as Takemura) I really liked this ending.

Having explored the lore of Cyberpunk pretty deep, i realized the neural matrix was single-use the first time it was brought up. Yet, I think this is the best ending. Songbird is the only true friend V may ever have, understanding their pain, will to survive... If there's someone V can put their trust into, it's her. Not only does Songbird survive and heal, she tells V how to save themselves. It's an optional dialogue, while storming the terminal V can ask So Mi who got her a ticket to Luna, and she will tell V about a blue-eyed proxy man in a black suit (you can actually see him obeserve you at 3:06). That's the same guy who makes a deal with V in The Sun ending. Meaning he kept his side of the bargain, and V survived AND became a legend.

But the fact that she's betraying everyone who supported her, expecting sympathy based on her past, is laughable. I've only known her for a few days, and I only agreed because she promised a cure. I've risked life and limb in this add-on, so why would I just let it slide? It's like storming Arasaka and then saying, "Okay, I'm done, let's go" right before Mikoshi. V's sole objective is to survive and find a cure. Why opt for the "maybe there's a cure" ending when there's a definite cure available? Johnny and I weren't the closest of friends (about 85%, I believe), and sometimes, his statements were illogical. He mentioned how his life would be completely gone if we pursued this path. Hate to break it to him, but his life ended about 50 years ago; he's not supposed to be here..

There is no satisfaction for the player in either of those endings, although technically speaking there is an end to V's suffering as a result of the Relic's malfunctioning. I didn't do Reed's path, but it's very easy to infer why Songbird would want to flee the NUSA so badly, and it's hard to trust Reed when he says he'll "bring her back safe and sound" when he's sending mixed signals about the fact she's a traitor and will "have to answer to treason." None of the people you end up with in Phantom Liberty are entirely honest with you, except Songbird by the end of the DLC, who'll admit that the matrix will only work on one person (which she might not even have known until Firestarter)". It's also clear from all sides that Songbird's had to break the international law at the cost of her personal health and her reputation for Myers, without really having had a choice (it's even implied she was taken into the FIA and didn't have much of a choice in the matter). For my V, the choice was easy; he'd help the person who genuinely needed to get away from her terrible situation to survive, and he'd see her situation is worse than his. He'd understand he has other avenues for a cure whilst *Songbird does not.* And more importantly, he'd do the noble, truly selfless thing by giving up the sure cure for himself to give it to another. I find this ending poetic because of the aforementioned factors and even bittersweet. It's one thing V did for someone else that changed their life forever.

I did not liked this ending, it just shows that Songbird is paranoid and selfish. She basically screws over anybody even V while you keep helping her. The only upside is as I feel is that Alex survives I guess. But I also do like that this ending in a sense that I think this is incredible character writing and I feel it fits perfectly when you try to stick to Songbird. Some people tend to say it was for the greater good, while in this ending it would sound more like I sacrificed everything for Songbird which is in a sense the greater good, all the people that died by the Blackwall etc. Also try out 100% the other ending where you cooperate with Reed there is a section that has Outlast vibes, I was very surprised when I played it and I enjoyed all of it.

This really is the good ending despite the somewhat tragic way Reed's story concludes. I couldn't bring myself to kill her in the Cynosure ending and otherwise I think any ending where the FIA 'saves' Songbird and cures V is more heartbreaking than anything else in this game, at least with this ending you get the realization that Songbird finally got free and as V you still have the option to pursue the various Mikoshi based endings.

But after all she isn't truly free is she? Mr blue eyes was behind it all, as he is seen on the top floor just before you board the train towards the orbital ship. He could he a rogue AI trying to use So Mi perhaps? Because if you betray her, you get a message and from the grammar it doesn't seem to be a human, but an AI trying to get the data of the cure. I do think letting her die was the most peaceful one. She wasn't herself, thr blackwall her infected her too much. You can see the difference in her when you betray her, who she becomes. And by the end of cynosure you see her trueself.

@crashoverride23 Жыл бұрын
There is no good ending. V's story is a tragedy it's not about you surviving it's about you helping the people around you. If you pick the secret ending where you go alone with Johnny at the end nobody else has to die in the original game. If you call Reed after deciding to side with song after you get her to the train then Alex Songbird and Reed survive you get the cure but it's not really a cure. You can never use cyberware again if you do you'll die and you are in a coma for two years. Panam and all your friends ghosted you then you vanish in to the crowd in night city just an average Joe which means you'll be killed sooner than later. I feel like most players forgot what Dex asked V in their first meeting because it's extremely important to the outcome of the game. Blaze of Glory or die of old age sitting in your own piss.
@SnakeHelah Жыл бұрын
Well that's true. But the blaze of glory is just sort of like the journey. The potential cure is the "destination" for V. But yeah the storyline is definitely a staple dystopian tragedy. Most games usually let you be the hero. But there aren't really any heroes in Night City.

In all the endings there’s a price to pay, Vs story comes in an end will there be a canon choice that CDPR will use to mention what happens to V in future projects? Maybe all we know is V is a legendary NC solo and will probably follow morgan black hands route of no one knowing what’ll happen to them…
@bobsandwich34318 ай бұрын
Nah it doesn't mean you'll be killed sooner than later I mean you literally contradict yourself with last sentence. Just means V is a nobody and an average Joe and he's out of the game. He has a chance to live a new life but it cost letting go of everything in his previous life. You can easily see it as die young and live a life of excitement or live long enough to live a meaningful and peaceful one. V has a greater chance at happiness now that he isn't allowed to be back in the game that eventually kills or causes irreversible trauma to everyone involved.

I disagree that this is the good ending. In the world of Cyberpunk when V gets to actually live and that’s what we’re fighting for. There’s soon many ways V can get a new body transplant. So I don’t get the wanting to side with a girl who’s willing to kill a crap ton of people to save her own skin. Meanwhile V is told by rouge he/she is a living legend already at the end of the credits. Upon that you have NuSa contacts and pull now. So getting a new body isn’t outside the possibility. Not sorry to say we were looking to save V’s life. Nothing more. V literally beat death. Living Legend and you’re a fool otherwise.

You forgot some important details. V might have other options, but So Mi does not. If she doesnt get a cure, she will die and/or turned into a WMD( which in case you forgot, was the only reason the president kept her alive,to use Songbird as a weapon) So the choice in this case is saving V or saving the world.

@MichRoyal Жыл бұрын
I feel the saddest part of this ending is Reed. I feel it cements the fact that Reed does care about V. In fact, he cares about all the main players, as cold as he is perceived at times. Him coming out of the ship at the very end shows that he was pretty much tracking V the whole time, likely ever since he got on the tram with So Mi. The final confrontation also shows that he was struggling hard with the idea of killing V. One could argue that he was only acting to protect So Mi, which is why he didn't move in on V, but I don't buy it. He had ample opportunity, especially when V is carrying So Mi, or the moment he/she puts her down, to basically take out V quick and easy. He hesitated up to the very last moment, which is what got him killed by V in this ending. Time and again he had the ability to act purely off logic and complete his mission to take out V, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. I think this also symbolizes why he imo says to himself, "Too... too damn late." Then he passes on, because although he was cemented in his convictions that taking in So Mi was for the greater good, he couldn't overcome the fact that also meant sacrificing V who'd he'd come to care for as one of his own agents, just as much as So Mi I think.
@fabior.9326 Жыл бұрын
I agree with your comment I believe that Reed saw the only chance for songbirds survival, to take her back to the agency. The fact that Myers wanted her back, plays a second role here. The writing and characters in this expansion are top notch. Always on the edge of who and what to believe
@MichRoyal Жыл бұрын
@@fabior.9326 Yeah it makes me so sad because like you said, I feel Reed not only felt that it was Songbird's only chance for survival, but he also felt the need to find a way to retrieve her without hurting V. That's why he tries so hard to convince V to give her up at the end, and despite all you did, if you do, still gives you the surgery you need. If he truly hated you, he'd probably tell you to F off the moment he retrieved So Mi. As said, he also has ample oppurtunity to retrieve So Mi without directly confronting V, and likely could've killed him with a good shot at the back of the head, or front, without instead choosing to dramatically walk out of the tram and confront V directly and try to convince him/her. I think Reed had come to care for V, just like So Mi had grown to care for V, and thus you became the immovable obstacle for him in the end. He was a secret agent who so easily took so many lives before, yet he hesitates with you? Why? And I think that's what he was struggling with the whole confrontation. "Too damn late."

I'm french so excuse me in advance for the faults. I like to roleplay this game as if i was myself really V, dans react and act exactly as if it was really me from the start to the end. When we were on dogtown and that the choice helping so mi or reeeds appeared, i chose to help so mi. I don't know why, because i was planing to gelp reeds and the fia but...i did it that's all. And from this i told myself that I'll help her no matter what now that i decided to help her. I wouldn't let her down no mattet what. On the spatio port, in the car, i "felt" more and more like i wouldn't survive all of this story and that so mi was hiding something big to me, but i continued as if nothing, i don't know why but here it is. When so mi told me there was only one person who could use the treatment, I'm not gonna lie, i got really angry and disappointed for a few seconds, but...in the same way i couldn't really blame her and i chose to reconfort her as much as possible. I decided to help so mi to the end, necause i promised to help her. I carried so mi to the spatial vehicle and when reeds appeared i really got surprised (yeah im stupid lol) and was like "don't tell me to choose between you two please" I talked with him, tried to convince him, i did everything i could to not blame him, and to make so mi situation acceptable for him... But it was impossible and when reeds proposed me to give so mi for the treatment, i hesitated for a few seconds but then i reminded why i was helping so mi, even if she had betrayed me everytime : beacuse in the end she chose to told us the truth, she started to care paradoxally for us, but more than everything she was "like" me, she was dying ane worse, it never was her fault. It was simple : she had the right to live. Yes, she could start after that a war and yes it was terrifying for me (no that i saw a little bit of the IA behind the black wall powers) but i didn't want to abandon so mi. Unlike me, she had no other options, it was her only chance. So... I fought reeds and killed him. Not gonna lie, that made me really sad, i regretted, a lot, because reeds was a character i deeply respected. But in the end it was better for him, to die with his principes, him who already died inside a few years ago. I carried so mi in the vehicle, thinking about the life i could have lived without the relic with panam and the aldecaldos, and then i came to the hall to see her going away. On the road i took reeds weapon, promising myself to use it every time now. When so mi went away in space i got a little pain in the heart but at the same time i found it absolutely beautiful. We killed many people, did a lot of bad things, maybe we were gonna indirectly start a war. But we saved a live who had all her rights to live, we said someone, and finally, that is maybe the final reason of why i helped so mi to the end, even to she betrayed me everytime. She wouldn't have to ne scared anymore and i hope she get a better life. The day after, on the port, i told myslef that now i have a lot of options, and that im going to join the aldecaldos, the best ending for me, and live freely, and if before i was scared that this ending would lead to death, now im confident that V can be saved, and that ecen if he dies, living the best life he could dream of with his girl during 6 months... Is worth it
