A Cyberpunk video has been something I've wanted to make for literally years now. I knew the dawn of the fifth day would come for Cyberpunk, it was only a matter of time. That doesn't mean it's a completley perfect game. But it's definitely playable now! So I think it's time we discuss it all! Thanks for watching!

Cyberpunk is one of these stories that just gets better as you get older. V starts out as a hungry dumb ambitious kid who wants to get rich but by the end of the game he just wants to be happy and spend more time with his loved ones its a very relatable and a mature character ark especially when compared to most RPGs where your character is treated like a god by every npc he meets.

This is probably why I really love CDPR's games. I'm SO done with the usual "hello pleyer you are the only one who could save the world plz help us thankz"-trope. Geralt is treated as a monster by the world, V is mostly treated as a noob who can easily be used and walked all over. Neither The Witcher's, nor Cyberpunk's core is about saving the world and instead focus on simply delivering a good story with good characters, with pretty believable writing compared to most games.

Starfield/Barret-Hey, know we just met, but would you like my spaceship and pet robot? Cyberpunk/Dex-Hey, know we just met, but would you like some brain and emotional trauma? Cyberpunk really feels alive in a way that no other game world has felt to me in a long time, and the best part is V feels like a part of the world, but not an architect of it. His actions don't change the city on a grand scale. He's not a hero. He's not a villain. He's just a guy (or woman if that's your character) trying to live, and that's it. And Night City doesn't give a shit.

Despite the bugs and half-baked mechanics in some area, it was clear to me that there was a worthwhile experience underneath. Just wanna start by saying I’ve been looking forward to this video for months. Really enjoy your videos. Advertisements in Cyberpunk aren’t meant to be GTA style. They’re meant to represent the world itself. There’s a bunch of lore to simplify, but basically, in a city that’s run by corpos, your attention is your most valuable commodity, and money your second. Advertisements need to pull your attention at all costs. That’s why they’re so gory and striking. Another creator made a really good video on this, “Cyberpunk 2077 in a World of Ads,” definitely check that out if you have time. As far as the story goes and “taking too long,” it is a combat game that has really fun gameplay, but it’s also a deep story game. Personally, I think good storytelling takes time, and has real meaning behind it if you stop to think about it. There have been multiple times in the game where I’m on my second play through and hears something and went “WHAT? No way I didn’t notice that, that’s such a cool small detail”. Anyway, I guess it just depends on what you’re playing the game for. I love story games, and Cyberpunk is my absolute favorite. Keanu Reeves as Johnny I know some people don’t like, I suppose that’s mostly just a preference thing. Personally, I thought 80% of his dialogue is pretty good and by the end of the game, it really felt like you and Johnny had a deeper relationship (assuming you didn’t pick the voice lines that make V a complete dick). Overall, enjoy your videos and interesting to hear your take on Cyberpunk. Keep up the good work!

@ComradeBread
@ComradeBread 8 ай бұрын
Yea people a lot of the time miss the fact that cyberpunk is not an aesthetic, but rather an examination of what the world would look like under a hyper capitalist corporate hell state. The ads are the idea that sex sells pumped (hehe) up to 1000%, people ask you questions in game because you're supposed to examine your own beliefs in a genre that's about crushing the humanity out of everything in the name of a quick profit. Having some flashy neon lights and not ever forcing you to think about the state of the world would have been a disservice to the genre. That being said some segments do tend to feel like they drag on if you're on a second play through.
@mb-ed8hu
@mb-ed8hu 8 ай бұрын
@@ComradeBread That's fair. I'm on my third playthrough (Judy romance, need I say more?) and there can definitely be boring parts another time around. But I definitely think they were important, no, essential, to my first playthrough, which is really what story games try to achieve. Personally, I couldn't tell you one thing they could change about the story to make it better. ( Except for romancing Songbird :((((( )

The current version is so different from the launch version of the game. The gameplay and progression were unfocused and unbalanced and made playing it a grind while it was simultaneously unchallenging. No one had complaints about the story at launch besides lifepaths feeling underbaked. It most that people held CDPR to an expectation that they set for themselves and was pretty disappointed that they didn't meet it.

I loved talking to the characters in this game, not because of the characters themselves, but because nearly everything the characters tell you is worldbuilding cosplaying as a conversation. No, I don't care about what I would do if I got out of that city, but the fact some characters feel the need to ask me that question says more about the city itself than the characters. That's the kind of stuff I adore ! Conversations in this game drip atmosphere at every turn, and since I'm a player that enjoys atmosphere more than gameplay a lot of the time, those dialogue sequences were close to being my favourite parts of the game. I get to experience the city in gameplay, and then I reflect on it with the characters which gives me a new perspective once I go back in it again.

I love Keanu Reeves but I agree. He isn’t a great voice actor, and I think that’s because in a lot of these more action roles he’s done. In movies like Matrix and John Wick, he and his character have a decent back story but he’s also written in a way that people can easily just kinda slot themselves in his place, like an actual video game protagonist. In Cyberpunk, he’s his own character that has to react to YOU. Idk if it’s just hard to subconsciously separate Keanu from the protagonist role or if Keanu just doesn’t emote or react quite strongly enough to be in a supporting role. He’s still great, but just goes to show the difference between a movie actor and a motion capture/voice actor (could also just be how he’s written/the juxtaposition between the fast life of NC and the slow cadence of Johnny)
@CrazyxEnigma
@CrazyxEnigma 7 ай бұрын
I agree Keanu just doesn't do that great of a job here it's long been a criticism of his that he doesn't emote well and really the only role that I've felt he was entirely believable and wasn't a Neo or John Wick type of character is Ted Theodore Logan lol. He's not terrible in this game but with everyone else doing a fantastic job in that department his lesser performance stands out more. He does sound more natural in the DLC though.

I'm sort of torn with this video... Most of the things you don't like are what actually make the cyberpunk universe... Granted you took the "I'm just a gamer" perspective, which talks to all the people who don't even know cyberpunk is a 35 year old franchise... but you went so in depth, it's weird you wouldn't go there and explore the source material. If you're curious to understand why everything is how it is thematically, or all the choices the developer did in making the game this way, they actually bundled the Cyberpunk 2020 rule-book pdf in the root of the 2077 install folder. 2077 is a game that is VERY faithful to its source material. Simplifying things as a last resort if there was no way to make something fun.

I waited to play it until just last month....partly because life was too hectic and partly because I didn't want to be disappointed. I ended up playing it on the SteamDeck and I can count the number of crashes or major issues from the entire 120 hours I've played on one hand. It's an amazing experience and I can't put it down....finishing my second play through and contemplating a third. I've never done back-to-back play-throughs of the same game previously. Phantom Liberty is absolutely incredible too.

I find it really strange this review focuses so negativley on the "people pontificating about their place in this world" aspect cos that's basically the whole point behind cyberpunk fiction... Ghost in the shell, Akira, Bladerunner, and pretty much every other cyberpunk story has moments where characters struggle with their existence and rage against the machine.

The next 2.1 update also looks insane, its like CDPR wants you to replay the game multiple times and I've already spent nearly 200 hours in the game on a very low end PC. So I already intend to play it when I get an upgraded PC and CDPR is just enticing me to make sure I do. I love your videos, thank you very much!

Cyberpunk, in its current state especially, has the potential to be talked about as one of the best games ever made. From presentation and world building, to its combat mechanics and storytelling. It had a rough launch, even if I could still see the potential then, but it has really become one of the best representations of the Cyberpunk genre.

23:24 It's actually a recurring joke in the Witcher community, there's many ocassion where Geralt action and dialog are vastly different than what it seems from the option. Most famous example is the "[shove Dijkstra aside]" where instead of pushing/bumping him out of the way, Geralt just WWE the fck out of him and break his leg *again* 🤣

Cyberpunk 2077 has gotten me to slowly fall back in love with games. I've been in a really bad lull of not enjoying any games and not fully understanding why. With Cyberpunk, I finally understood. In any other game, I played until I got the item, build, or cosmetic I wanted and then stopped. The story was never captivating enough for me to want to push forward. The story in Cyberpunk 2077 however, kept me engaged all the way through, especially with the sheer amount of choices and different outcomes there are for each quest, main or side quest otherwise.

Actually, listening to your second/third Johnny Silverhand impression reminds me of how Clint Eastwood talked in his cowboy movies. Was Clint Eastwood awkward? Was Keanu channeling Clint? Maybe that makes it less weird? Also big respect for you running your sponsor/subscriber appreciation roll at the same time as you're finishing up talking instead of running it at the very end just taking up time. I know we can just click away but it's just somehow different.

the main thing i would say with the ads is that they are purposely overdone and invasive (like ads) to show that the corpos have wormed into the world in the most intrusive way possible as another bit of worldbuilding. Edit: also on the point of the club music being too quiet. I am pretty sure its said in lore that the clubs like Totentanz have you link directly into the system to have the music blast directly into your head

Cyberpunk is this decade's Skyrim imo. It's going to be modded and beloved and played for years to come, despite its flaws. Hopefully, knowing the cultural touchstone that Skyrim became, CDPR looks at that and goes "Sweet, we can spend 10 years on Cyberpunk: Orion". It's because of 2077 that I sat down and read all the media surrounding the Cyberpunk universe, and they could go *insane* with the amount of worldbuilding they have available to them. They just need to be willing to sit down and build upon the IP with reckless abandon.

FSR3 mod, enabling frame generation on older GPUs and Ultra Plus better pathtracing mod enhances RT and or PT performance. On 1440p with dlss balanced and path tracing I'd get around 40fps with an rtx 3080. The mods above enable fully pathtraced Cyberpunk with the high quality preset the mod provides for said path tracing at around 90fps! It's a phenomenal experience and I can highly recommend both to anyone!

I died at 19:18. Too real lmao. Recently fell into the cyberpunk rabbit hole (post-2020 memes and anime), bit the bullet, and bought the ultimate edition on sale with PL. Currently sitting on 90 sum hours over the last 3 weeks. I 100% agree with your take that the dialogue and cut scenes can be lengthy. Just started my second run and the entire Evelyn and Johnny dialogue + cut scenes were lengthy.
