Anna Hamil doesn't "just" die in a firefight, she storms the police station xD You can hear it on the radio

I like the idea of V stealthily capturing targets, because fixers can more efficiently dispose of them, and it's way more frightening to the other evil bastards. "They disappeared without a trace from a building full of guards and were never found" is way scarier than "Someone snuck in and shot them," because it gives their mind room to fill in things they're scared of.
@Criminalupper2200

a little, but I also think "an unstoppable killing machine chromed out to the gills killed literally his entire security force and then popped his head like a grape in his own office, then just walked away unharmed" would also be very scary
@eldibs
@eldibs Жыл бұрын
@@Criminalupper2200 That's fair, but it's scary in a different way. Losing in a fight of force vs. force is always a possibility and just leads villains to think they can just beef up their security to be safe, and it doesn't leave as many unknowns for their minds to get hung up on.

I'm so conflicted about the Anna Hamil gig. On one hand, can't blame a cop for actually doing her job, but on the other hand, there's the scanner hussle you also talked about where you can protect a man from the Tyger Claws, only to find out that he worked with Anna, who promised him protection in exchange for information, but she didn't deliver, either because she made a promise she couldn't keep or because she had no intention to protect him in the first place. Idk if she's actually a good cop or if she's just self-righteous.
@dmservetus42
@dmservetus42 Жыл бұрын
I think it's safe to say that Anna can't deliver on protection, because of the corruption of the NCPD as a whole. If she tries to arrange police protection the rest of the police just tell the Tyger Claws. She is naive and endangering people through that naivete, but she is trying to follow her ideals. Max Jones has a very similar dynamic. There are at least two situations where he reached out to people to get them to tell their stories if corporate corruption and gotten them killed. In northeastern Watson there is a homeless encampment that got an Arasaka team dropped on it because someone talked to Max. There is also a shop, in Little China I think, that got Tyger Claws after the owner talked to Max.
@gaunterodimm5974
@gaunterodimm5974 Жыл бұрын
I just did that scanner hustle. From the way she said "the budget is there" and then apologized it's clear she genuinely was confident she could get him protection but her corrupt co-workers probably got in the way. Probably the same people who paid the hit on her considering both shards were referring to the Kabuki market thing involving tyger claws

My theory with the "Back Against a Wall" gig is that the meds are supposed to help with Cyber-Psychosis, which isn't what Hare has, he has your standard PTSD, which those meds won't help with. He thinks he's going Cyberpsycho, but he isn't. This goes to explain why the ripper-doc wants the meds back, because they are useful when used to treat the proper problem. It's like trying to use antibiotics for a viral infection, not going to do anything.

I get the feeling it doesn't work for that either because one of his other clients is the cyberpsycho Rose Harrigan who ends up murdering her sister. You find her on a gig for El Capitan. So they could very well be counterfeit and the guy is just making money off of a scam. You find her sister has a huge stash of similar meds in her house where she tried to treat her sister's psychosis.

I don't think the anti-cyberpsychosis Meds actually don't work in "Backs against the Wall", Hare has psychological issues that stem from his service and PTSD, not necessarily from his implants. If you read his terminal you can see the messages from his support group hoping they see him at the next meeting and him pushing them away. I can't imagine letting Charlie work on V having that blackmail on him. That seems like a sure way to never get off that table.

Alternative explanation, he's been taking them for so long that his body has built up a tolerance to the drugs, rendering them less effective.
@wormspeaker
@wormspeaker Жыл бұрын
@@JohnZ117 I think that this is more likely the correct answer. He's so far gone that the normal dosage of the meds isn't helping and he's very close to breaking no matter what happens. If they were fake meds and the docs knew this then there would be no need to recover them from the guy, just put some chalk in a gelcap and call it "meds". The idea that the meds are real but don't actually do what they're supposed to do isn't supported by the lore as many of the cyber psychos were on the meds but over time needed to increase the dosage to the point where they could no longer afford them precipitating their descent into cyberpsychosis. So I think it's pretty clear that the guy has needed to increase his dosage to the point where the amount he's taking is no longer having an effect on keeping him sane.
@BL00DYME55
@BL00DYME55 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnZ117 this would've been an amazing "secret" ending. You strike a deal for the discount in exchange for your silence, and everything seems ok. Then you actually go to him to install a new implant and BAM - game over screen. But I get why CDPR didn't do it, it's still a game and there should be some kind of pay-off for choosing a morally wrong option, i.e. siding with Charles.

"Backs against the Wall" was the mission that really pulled me into the cyberpunk world. I was at the door, weapons ready for a boss fight, but f course I am always in for a dialog - usually they end in combat anyway. But this guy really got me, and by the end I would have paid for his medics myself. No way I would kill this guy. When I left and heard that single gun shot (it took some seconds for me to realize that is was not some ambush) I just thought "no, no nonono" - went back to find my fears were true. Story, dialog, setting, all came together to create a true RPG experience (at least for me). Long time ago, by now, but I will always remember this one. Thanks for bringing this memory back to me. (and for all the small things I missed so far)

For the gig woman of la mancha you forgot to mention that there is another way to know where Anna is. Instead of speaking to the Nomad or the ripperdoc there is a woman with a tyger claw behind her. If you speak to her she asks if you're a cop and you can also pay for her to reveal that information. She has a direct line of sight to Anna. Only found out about this in my recent playthrough.

For the gig "Welcome to America, Comrade" I usually go in via a small gate that you can pull off its hinges, down the alley to the left if you are facing the main gate, if your tech is high enough and stealth my way around the left side along the fence. I usually cannot jump over the fence though as I most times do not have either of the jump options installed yet. Edit: The ending I got for "Backs against the Wall" on my first play through caused me to shut the game down and come back to it about 2 weeks later because it shocked me that much. It still unsettles me greatly even now to be very honest, I think because I do not think that the result I got is a solution (managed to talk him into giving up the Baloparidol).

7:26 That is one stealthy arrival to the gig site lol. Btw, there is another gate that's not guarded by anyone, which I haven't seen you mention. Instead of entering through the main entrance like you did on the bike, you turn left through the little alley and follow along the fence. There will be a gate you can open with a Strength check (or you can just double jump over it). Once you're through the gate it's a pretty easy stealth-crawl behind the shipping containers and along the fence to get to the Aerondight. You might have to quietly take out 1 or 2 guys, but they present plenty of opportunities for stealthy takedowns if you're patient enough.

Assuming that the Devil Ending isn't canon it's possible that the cold conflict between the two powers could heat up, especially without the Arasaka weapons both sides expected to get a hold of. That way there’s only one guard to deal with who looks away periodically when smoking for you to sneak right past and incapacitate them and just wait for jataro right outside his room.

The stealth in that gig is so good, you can also see some militech guys busting into an apartment. I wish this gig, and more gigs for that matter, had the "don't engage in combat" optional objective like in that one gig where you're tasked to kill the merc that owns the 7th Hell club. There's a really hilarious way to complete that Ho-oh Club mission. If you notice the large white pipe sticking out of the building on the third floor, you can follow it totally out of the area to another location, then climb over a fence and get on the pipe, follow the top of the pipe all the way back to Ho-Oh, and then you'll end up on the club's ceiling looking directly into Jotaro's office through a ceiling grate. Wait a little bit for him to walk around and come back in, and you can shoot or hack through the grate (even though you can't physically move yourself through it) and kill him with ease. After that, just hop back on the pipe and walk a few feet away and you did it without ever actually entering the property.

In Welcome to America Comrade, if you have the reinforced tendons you can get on to the roof of the big warehouse the car is stored behind. First you get on the big yellowish pipes that curve up towards the roof then you can jump, land on the little ridge where there's a joint/seam in the pipe then hop up and you'll climb into the top of the pipe where you can drop onto the roof. Look over the edge in the direction of the car and you'll eventually see some sheet metal overhang/awning things that act as perfect platforms to drop safely down. You can drop straight to the ground or with well timed jumps literally hop right over to the perfect spot behind the car. After that you just need a tiny bit of sneaking out the back, then through broken gate towards the docks. The whole thing takes maybe a minute or two and I'm pretty sure you can get it done without even having to incapacitate any enemies, just a camera or two which can be important for anyone using the Stealthrunner mod

In the Woman of La Mancha gig the Nomad also helps you if you're a street kid. You can threaten him thst he is withholding information from the Tygers, he'll be scared and give you where Ana is.

On the Russian fixer gigs, you can do them before the heist and if you killed the fixer he won't make an appearance in the heist. As for planting the bug, double jump and the cloaking cyberware are all you need. I go around to the back side of Shobo's place then double jump my way up to the rooftop. There I jump on the big pipe and walk across into the lot. Then jump up on the roof, move to the backside, cloak and double jump down. Quickly plant the bug and then double jump over the fence done. Don't have to mess with the cameras or the guards. In and out in mere seconds once you get to the point they could notice.

"Welcome to America, Comrade" can be completed quite easily if you have the double jump fortified ankles (I think it was), and just make your way to the rooftops, because there's a pipe you can climb on top of, and then make your way over to the building which you can jump on top of. once you get over to the other side, you carefully make your way down, incapacitate/kill the sniper, and if your tech is high enough, turn off the camera below the catwalk. Jump down, and make your way over to the car stealthily, attach the tracker to the back of the car, jump up on top of the shipping containers, and then out of the yard. That's generally how I do it.

"Small Man, Big Evil" can be easily beaten by using double jump to climb the building across the street. Jae-Hyun can be seen leaning against the metal bars overlooking the street. which means if you have a good stealth modifier, and an even better stealth weapon, you can pick him off from across the street, and finish the gig lickity split. I generally get the call from Regina saying job well done blah blah blah, but once you get in your car to leave, you get a text basically saying to get your ass back, despite the gig being done. Probably a bug from not actually entering the area defined by the gig.

Doing "Welcome to America, Comrade" and following up immediately with Jotaro's mission was probably the most memorable part of the game for me. I died several times trying to stealth WtAC and finally said "Fuck it." And drove a stolen AMC Gremlin through the first half of the docks before blasting the rest of the way through. Then Jotaro's building was just three floors of fighting and looting Eddie's off the machines.

in monster hunter if you have double jump, you can hop up on some AC units and get right to the 3rd floor. you'll only need to drop two guards quietly. no tech checks or bulldozing through the club

Damn, I have to replay the game and pay more attention to shards and terminals. Regrettably I kind of ignored most of them, if you're following the events it really gives you way more content.

Welcome to America: there's a 3rd route, which IMO is the easiest one. Side entrance that can be broken open with minimal tech skill if i recall correctly. then just move behind the containers, incapacitate a couple guys from behind and be wary of line of sight of camera and the sniper at the end. The exit can be done reversing the entry route you show on the video, except you can climb a few containers and jump over the fence to get out of there.

I really appreciate these kind of videos, since when i first made the backs against the wall gig, i immediately pointed my gun at the guy, which made him hostile, and ended up with his death, second time i did it, as soon as he said "who's the real thief?" I just shot him, thinking he was just trying to get out of the situation, and in this video i realize the meds don't even work.

400 hours in and I never made this many connections. It's amazing how much they worked on the story, more than most people may know after playing it only once. Side note: DLSS 3.0 frame generation in full effect here (some artifacts); guessing you have an RTX 3080?

It goes to show how much they put into the story when it's clear there's so much cut stuff yet still a tonne of subtle things to be found. Nah, it's a 4080 so I can probs afford to tweak it to a higher quality mode. I'll check my settings

you can actually do Monster Hunt pretty easily without needing a high tech via a similar route. I went down the alleyway around a corner until I saw a dumpster sitting next to a small vendor booth. Climbing up, I Slippin Jimmied my way around until I got to the bit where you can climb in the window.

I have felt the same regarding Monster Hunt. It should have been one of Regina's last quests after all the other links have been built up. The only thing you would miss is the use of you killing Jotaro as a way to get Woodman to help you. But I did love the web of gigs, side gigs and NCPD gigs that all had links to Jotaro. Kang Tao are a shadowy presence that we skim but never get the chance to really explore like Arasaka, Militech, or Biotechnica (although there could have been a lot more on the later cops too). On that I really expected Stout (Militech) and the Netwatch agent to engage us in at least one more quest (Venus in Furs doesn't count). I'm sure CDPR had initially planned for DLC and FLCs (like Witcher 3 did) that might explore these companies use of V I don't expect the one and only Phantom Liberty DLC to have the width to do so. I do like how they changed the delivery of Gigs and their order from the original game (I've just completed my 8th playthrough after a year hiatus and was pleasantly surprised by these changes plus the three new side quests. Looking forward to doing it all over again with PL installed. PS I never heard the news report that Anna had been killed. That was sad to hear although not surprising.

With Monster Hunt I usually wait for Jotoro to come to the third floor window tag him then take you out with a Nekomata. The tigers are aggroed later when I can blast or hack my way through the place. I didn't realize I could put targets into fixer trunks. Even if I "Kiwi" my way through a mission (contagion/shock) I still double tap whoever the target is.

Haven't seen anyone point this out yet, but Tiny Mike loses his injured (left) arm from the elbow down. When you rescue him he's got 'ganic arms, but he's injured and holds his arm. When you meet him at the Afterlife, his left arm is now cybernetic.

After saving him, Tiny Mike turns up at an NCPD scanner job in Pacifica, if you kill Big Pete. But if you spare Big Pete, Tiny Mike is missing from the job. Regardless of my choices, there is something weird about Tiny Mike. After saving him, he hangs in Afterlife, calling me over every time I enter the bar. Even after exhausting all the conversations options, he still yells at me.

Says a lot about where they are actually from then, hmm? Makes them from around Hong Kong and the corporate world there I would suggest.... which fits in with how the Cyberpunk world is based on extrapolation from early 1980's assumptions, and how *accurately* CDPR sticks to those assumptions.
