China is probably the closest nation resembling a cyberpunk future, they are rich and are constructing mega structures, they have slave work, advanced technology, have epidemic outbreaks and are destroying the environment. They have a government that polices everything, secret torture prisons, human trafficking, they eat any animal and insect possible, they have no freedom of expression, a surveillance state, etc. I can't wait 'till everyone there has to walk around in gas masks, they are killing themselves.

+RealisticGamer you can play this game with oculus dk2. its pretty cool because it feels like you are actually there. sense the real size of enviroment and objects. Matrix or Avatar is a example of VR.

People says that they'd love to live in a cyberpunk world, but they forget or ignore completely some facts about this exciting word. First, you have to ask to your self: Does cyberpunk world people like to live in a cyberpunk world? Second, you have to remember: Cyberpunk = High-tech, LOW LIFE. Translating: Most of the people from the cyberpunk world lives miserable lives because of the centralizado power of the super corporations because the objective of this corporations is not promote comfort to their employees, but alienate them and to use them like beasts of burden, pack animals in their factories. And you have to understand that your life in the cyberpunk world would be possibly proportional to your life now. So if you're not a super hacker or a super cop in this life, certainly you would not be a super hacker or a super cop in a cyberpunk world. Also because the opportunities would be pretty much scarce because most of the work would be made by robots and fucking super computers. So, if you complain about your life and how hard it is, the corruption in the goverment, violence and other life shits now, son, it's 100% certainly that you will not like to live in a cyberpunk world, certainly likely 99% of the own cyberpunk world people probably would not like to like in their world. I am fascinated by the cyberpunk world that I read in books too, but thinking better, I don't know if I'd really like to in such world. It's like the zombie apocalypse. You think you will be a super survivor like Daryl, killing bunches of zombies with head shots "in the first attempt", escaping skillfully form hordes and shit, but NO! It probably won't happen. At least, maybe not like you like to believe. Maybe it seems to be very simple in the tv shows, but if it really happen, it'll mean starving all day long (maybe or probably days without eat), fear of fall asleep and suffer a horrible slow death being devoured painfully and slowly by bunches or even just one undead. Try think how it is sleep in an wild world like in the Savana knowing that there are bunches of hungry animals awaiting in the shadows the opportunity to dinner a fresh and juicy flesh. It also means no toilet paper, rare baths, no medicines, dangerous long walks thirsty, under burning suns and chilling rains searching for not food, but anything you can eat. And when you miraculously find something, it is rotted or worse.

In my mind, classical music is related to burial, conservatism and nostalgy. Nothing like the nervosity, darkness and desperate hedonism of cyberpunk stories. I rather think I don't get classical music :D

***** You sir made some good point too :D In my mind, cyberpunk athmosphere is fascinating because it show what the world could be in the future - and it has his seeds in the nowadays world. Political and economical gap between poors and richs, power of corporations, integration of nano- and biotechnology with neuro- and cognitive sciences... These phenomenons are already visible. I find cyberpunk stories exciting, not frightening, because it talk about heroes trying to survive in this brutal world - just as I am :)

I'd think industrial music would be more fitting for Cyberpunk. It's been around just about as long as Cyberpunk (late 70's, early 80s.)

***** Certainly. I agree with that, because almost any other genre of music can include the same underlying themes found within Cyberpunk and some industrial music. A good example is the soundtrack in Blade Runner, it primarily used jazz, which is fitting, especially since the atmosphere in that movie was detective/neo-noir. I definitely don't mind the track used in this video, either.

Even though Blade Runner has a more jazz style to it like you said, the heavy inspiration on noir films, it music is primarily targeted to the city/world of the movie itself. That soundtrack not only fit so well in that atmosphere, an atmosphere that merge noir and futuristic together, it basically creates something huge, dark and beautiful that is the world of Blade Runner. And yeah, it is also one of my favorite movies. It's hard to not feel that.
