The way this anime showed us how Cyberpsychosis is was just perfect. You get glimpses of it in the game, but this adaptation just goes all in, and from their perspective of those suffering from it. Maine was such a comedic relief until this point, and seeing what was happening to him, with his girl being shot right in front of him, and his question to himself, "was this mess my fault?" was downright horrifying. The imagery, his labored breathing, what he kept seeing in his mind, it felt so claustrophobic and seeing the look on his face in the few shots, with him looking soulless and dead, just really sealed in the deal that this dude finally lost it and there was no coming back, along with this somber song that fit the scene perfectly. It's really cool though that despite his Cyberpsychosis, he still managed to give David one last bit of advice before blowing it all up while David cries in the car after losing the only father figure left in his life. People keep talking about the ending and while I totally agree, I think Maine's death was far more depressing, I've watched it over and over countless times I just can't get enough of how well they nailed this scene in the show. His last moments were really slept on.

Maines end was the only time I actually cried in the show, and I'm not a big crier. When David's tears start landing on his gun I always crack 😅😭

I feel like if there were just one or two more episodes for the time span it would have been really impactful. The animes biggest problem in my opinion is the time skip and how they had to cram in so much good writing into such a short run time. Its still one of my favorites but with that fixed it could have been my top 3

maine's death was the ending. It sealed *everything* that came after David spent the timeskip becoming just like maine. From episode six, we knew how this show would end. It was haunting and perfect. He is my favourite alongside becca, and goddamn did that scene hit hard.

The worst part is after he dies, the music cuts, everything is silent as the camera pans to David's face (which was unbelievably detailed by the way) and he lets out one lonely little tear before the episode ends. God I sat there and processed this shit for twenty minutes after. It was such a good episode. Another fact, this same theme is used for when Kiwi is killed - funnily enough it's poetic because this song means so much to people when it's played for Maine, a leader and unstoppable force, but no body bats an eye when it plays for Kiwi cause she was a backstabbing traitor. You don't make a name for yourself by how you live, you make a name by how you die.

A lot of the emotional scenes were meant to be hyper detailed and "ugly", especially when Maine put his hand on David's shoulder and they panned into Maines "dream world". David's fear and uncertainty was portrayed by the sudden swapping the stylistic choice of more detailing.

I think anyone who liked the original song, will like this version even better, I put alot of time and effort into it, for one of the best songs in edgerunners, made it have a sick gritty melancholic guitar drop.

the scene where maine questions himself if he made the mess around him, he finally realized its the end for him. the Cyberpyschosis was him slipping in and out of control, and endless struggle while the world around you falls. Cyberpunk Edgerunners hammers the idea in that scene without flaw, the concept of nihilism. but even when there was no hope for Maine, he saw a burning light inside David. his last spark of humanity directed solely to tell David to keep running no matter how bad it gets. The most tragic death truly in Cyberpunk.

It was the cops who shot Dorio in the back. Maine was accidentally shooting at her before she injected him with the meds. But in the process, the cops got her.

Maine's death was the peak scene in the series. I don't really think anything after really had the same weight to it. David and Rebecca's deaths wrap up so suddenly and unceremoniously it's a bit jarring. Perfectly fitting for cyberpunk since everyone is supposed to have a bad end, but they just went all the way with Maine that wasn't given to Rebecca and David.

What Maine said, "no more running for me", was literal, he ran throughout his whole life until the cyberpsychosis finally took over. Right before the explosion finished, you see young Maine at the end of the road - he truly stopped running.
