Here's my explanation: The biochip completely corrupted V's genetic material to accommodate Johnny's engram (Alt and Hellman/Takemura explain this), so who knows what kind of consequences there are when doing it a second time on the same body. Because the only chip that can store and insert engrams was damaged, there wasn't an available place to store V's engram once Alt consumes Mikoshi. If they were to have a second Hellman-made chip, they could slot V's engram in a dead Arasaka soldier or something, but that doesn't sound like something good V and Johnny are ok with, let alone your romances. Because V was shot in the head, it's likely that Johnny can't operate independently without the chip either since the chip fulfills the missing brain matter's functions, meaning there can be no spare port to store V in a biochip. To even produce an accommodating body from scratch would take years even with Arasaka tech. They even explain this when you take the Devil ending. You could be stored inside Mikoshi until they come up with a solution, but you would abandon the relationships you made along the way. Alt and any rogue AIs or freed engrams had to retreat behind the Blackwall anyways to avoid Arasaka or Netwatch, so it's not like they could stay in Arasaka's subnet forever using their machines until they make a new chip with Hellman's plans or body or something. Alt's control over Arasaka's NC headquarters would have been brief at most and she had her own interests at heart.

Ok so here is the thing from watching all the other ending videos. Johnny's Chip altered V's Phenotype, why Yorinobu and others are successful is because the chip is still going into someone with a close phenotype to match the body. That's why it had to be Yorinobu that gets taken, and it's obvious they haven't made cloning yet or this would story would be essentially useless. Basically Johnny's Chip is special (probably because it's a prototype) because it is an infection rather than the new ones that just does not register if not compatible.

If you turn on, johny uploads and "chippin in" start to plays in whole tower's speakers, while you are in combat at the mean time. My favorite path to the ending, it ties up Johnny's story perfectly specially when you choose to give body back to V, it shows him mature and deal with fact he's long dead happy he had chance to met his old friends and have his last concert. Even Rogue's end even tho brutal fits her story perfectly, she once left her friends to die by making deal with corporations and now she died trying to help someone survive it's really good in my opinion. I just wish this this path would lead to ending where V doesn't lose hope and keeps fighting just like Johnny fought for them, i'm not talking about happy ending but something like Nomad ending but in Night City, they could really just alter dialogues in casino ending making it look like V does the job to get help from Mr. Blue Eyes instead of doing it because they have nothing to lose.

Since I believe they will go for DLCs set after the ending I think this ending or the nomads one are the only two that make sense. The other endings don't have anything open about them. At least this one and the Nomads you could see content being made. Heck this one if the Heist with Blue Eyes goes well go set up a DLC where V goes to help the Nomads in Arizona since they told him they're heading there. It's gonna be a mess for the devs to make every thing fit with all the little variation in that each endings can have but if there are story writters that can pull it throught it's definitely those at CDPR!

Who knows. Perhaps Mr. Blue Eyes' "end of the bargain" is some sort of help for V's condition. It's heavily implied Mr. Blue Eyes isn't a mere human (or at very least, he's involved in much weirder stuff than Saburo's "Secure your soul" - namely, with certain A.I. that attacks you during Peralez storyline).

Mr. Blue Eyes seems to have ties to entities like Alt. Given that she was able to do for V/Johnny what Arasaka couldn't be bothered to do, it's quite possible that V's space heist might lead to a cure via Blue Eyes' associates. It ties up all the stories neatly like you said: Johnny matures, Rogue gets to make up for her past, V makes it to the Big Leagues, Misty's tarot reading(i.e. the word of the devs) suggests that V becomes a legend, etc.

​@@Dubz759 That's the grim, dark undertone the game gives as a whole imo, in Night City everyone sets out with big dreams in mind and plans for changing the world, but after all, you're only human. And humans are weak and small. There's nothing you could do cept for saving yourself, and even so you might not be that good at it. Nobody wins ever, no matter what ending you got because there wasn't meant to be a winner in the first place. V lost in his own game when he died the first time, and so did Johnny. You lost in the very start and there was no chance for redemption in the first place. The only thing that you were able do was to seize the moment, get your one last chance to shine and go out before you turned to ash, and they did it. And that's all that matters.

Thing is, because of your attack on tower, Arasaka lost its popularity, big chunk of stock price and most importantly soulkiller with all diagrams, including Saburo's. Yorinobu now have a chance to take company down for good. If you listened to radio at the end of Johnnys ending, Yorinobu tries to purposely start a war with Militech to end Arasaka.

I really enjoyed the writing in Cyberpunk despite the bittersweet endings. It offered a great interpretation of how you wanted to view Johnny and it even reflects in the endings. This ending is my 2nd favorite. It started with him being an antagonist, something who wanted you dead and to replace you. Then the story develops and it becomes unsure of what he actually wants, a friend who wants to save your life? Or just your personalities merging? Then it drops the bombs with him of what happened in his life and what Arasaka did to him, development into a friend who just wants to save you because he hates what's happening himself. Whether you end up as V or Johnny, I'm just glad they end up honoring the others name in this ending.... ps... anyone who sold their soul to Arasaka and betraying Silverhand has no heart.

The secret ending is the best ending, because despite V becoming an asshole obsessed with their desire to be a legend, nobody else dies. Rogue doesn't get knife handed in the chest, Saul doesn't get curb stomped, and half the Nomad vets don't get murdered. Sure, it hurt like hell to know that you lost Panam/Judy/whoever, but it was the right choice. It was a mess V got themselves into, and it's a mess they should pull themselves out of. Jacky would have been proud.

I was bummed to see there was no "Magician" ending, where you'd take the deal from Hanako, but midway through the mission choose to betray her, and do your own thing. That's what I tried to acomplish, instead I got the "Devil" ending.

Disagree hard. The Aldecaldos ending is clearly the best one. It's the only one with hope left in it, the only one where you don't have to give yourself to Johnny or simply expect to die. While Saul and the other nomads dying is unfortunate, one could argue that his death is ultimately good for the Aldecaldos in the long run with Panam now having uncontested leadership as compared to sharing with Saul whose overly cautious stances were causing the Aldecaldos to stagnate. Additionally they all willingly joined in knowing they could die so it's not like they were simply murdered. Ultimately it's the only ending with the unequivocal promise of something better.

@Turaglas True. Before I found out about the secret ending, I actually chose the suicide option. The game/Johnny had been hinting heavily throughout the story that if you brought your friends up against Arasaka, they'd probably get decimated. I just didn't want to see that happen, especially since you dug yourself into such an extraordinary hole. And I didn't feel like I'd done enough for the nomads to accept help from Panam. Guess I just got attached to all the characters. Second playthrough I let Johnny take the body after going with Panam's help. And third playthrough I went with the secret ending on the hardest difficulty. In my mind, always felt like the secret ending should have always been an option at ANY time after you get Alt's program.

Kinda feels like the ending dialogue was mixed up. V's reaction to Johnny staying behind seems like it would be more appropriate if he was taking the body. Even in Johnny's ending he references the 'don't forget me' line. Even the image of the person left behind when you go into cyberspace doesn't make sense.

Remember when she talks to Alt about what lies beyond the Blackwall you can choose to say one of two things: life beyond the blackwall gives her hope of eternal life, or you can say something about survival at all cost is not worth it. Imagine you wanna live, and you wanna go beyond the blackwall instead of dying a slow death of 6 months. Then it makes more sense to call him a lying sack of shit. He promised to save you and he deltas not exactly having delivered? Plus on the other hand it's still complicated, he might disappear, v doesn't want him dead. Doesn't wanna part either. All that wrapped in one you could imagine such a reaction... But bottom-line is it's patched.

It depends on what you said at a hotel in Pacifica when Johnny gave you his friends dog tag. If V said yes about taking bullet for him and still Johnny wants to give up and pass the control to V’s body to V, he/she will be totally mad and V will say that he lied and that wasn’t the deal. Maybe xLetalis chose here option like “what question is it” or “I don’t know”. So that’s why V here calls him a lying sack of shit. He became V’s friend at the end, so I guess that’s why V reacts like this even if he/she doesn’t give Johnny a proper answer.

It's simply a bug, because when you do the Aldecaldos ending you enter the well to keep your body as V and in this ending it's vice versa. It probably occurs, because you gave Johnny your body, so he could go into Arasaka Tower with Rogue and entering the well as Johnny is "keeping your body", that means he will keep it. Hope you understand xD.

@@AJZulu Yeah, that is because the first edition of the game was released in the 80's and that is all they knew. It makes absolutely no sense for the the game to still have 80's fashion. Silverhand died in 2020, not 1980; he wasn't even born in the 80's. No one in 2020 is rocking 80's fashion. They make it seem like everyone does. I cannot imagine in a futuristic 2020 that people would still be rocking skull printed wife be aters and spiked ch okers. It is almost like they wanted some way to point out that silverhand and alt was from a different period. So they used some fashion that was way before their time because they didn't know how to design new fashion that goes 50 years past 2020 for the people in 2077. The game's following the lore of the original, Cyberpunk's world isn't our world or are history, the fashion doesn't need to move along the same lines as it does in our world. If they didn't keep true to that you might as well be picking apart the fact that our world didn't go through corpo wars and everyone didn't start getting into Cybernetic enhancements back in the early 2000s. You keep playing with that train of thought and then you get to the point where there's not even a point to adapting this universe at all.

This was the ending I chose, and I’m so glad I did. It seemed to fit my game the most - my V and Johnny had a strong friendship by that stage and it felt right to let him take the wheel and have his final moments finishing off Smasher in Arasaka Tower (where it all began).

It's really tragic how bad night city really is. I seen every mission and I know how fucked in the head some people get there, but hearing Rouge having a son, and she's still doing a mission where her life is on the line. All to make amends and confront her own demons. She knew she might die in this run, but she still chose to do it. Even though she had someone who she cared for, outside of all this mess. Night city really does just suck people dry.

I find it rather odd that Alt or Johnny or V ever came up with the idea to stabilize the chip and have Alt reprogram the nanites inside to compensate for deteriorating neural function and create a separate directory construct for Johnny to live in where the two could coexist and share control at will.

I really think that they wasted this ending. It's epic, bittersweet and gives an emotional conclusion to the journey of the two main characters. But then you wake up in the mansion and discover that the game has made a lot of choices on your behalf. You don't get to choose whether to leave NC or remain, even if there's nothing to stop you. The game doesn't do justice to what V has accomplished, it seems more like "Rogue's dead, now you will be the boss, I guess...". On top of this he is framed like some sort of sore loser that must still prove something because of reasons and leaves for a suicidial mission, lonely and bitter. In my opinion it would have worked much better if they had given the player the ability to choose between your loved ones and your dreams, if they had shown the amazing feeling of reaching your objectives after many costly sacrifices, if they had shown the will to live and fight until the very end. I have the feeling that the devs didn't want to have one good ending so they tried to make every one of them artificially worse than what they could have been.

From the games perspective you decide whether or not to leave Night City and move on by deciding whether or not you want to be a Nomad and live their lifestyle. If you go for Arasaka you sell out for safety. If you go with Rogue/Johnny it's because you want to be a Night City Legend

But it doesn't change the fact that at the end you are depicted like a pathetic guy. I have more a problem with how the last bit of the story is set up. They don't do anything that builds up to this decision, a promise to Johnny, a sudden change of heart of Panam or something like that. You wake up and your character will just not leave even if asked...

that's the genre, there are no good endings in night city. The true moment to decide is on the rooftop only, but I kinda like it - I didn't chose help from Panam, because I was worried sth might happen to her. If you could decide at the end it'd undermine the gravity of the rooftop decision.

@@michalslusarski the Nomad ending is actually pretty good, especially if you leave with Judy. The devs tried to make it worse by killing a bunch of guys and by making Panam sound distant in the voicemail. But nobody cared for those and the voicemail feels a lot like an afterthought. Plus if you're with Judy has a lot less weight. On top of that the atmosphere is much more positive. Also, I don't think bad endings are a cyberpunk trope. Instead I think happy endings in general don't really work in most stories. However, emotional and thought-provoking conclusions must be constructed properly otherwise they just feel unfair. And I just think this ending feels very unfair...

The city is the antagonist, you don't win anything by climbing to the top, you're meant to feel hollow, empty because hey guess how you're gonna feel sitting on a throne upon a tower of corpses and false promises. There is no happy ending by staying in the city. The entire game, from the oppressive atmosphere to the many, many examples of people "trying for that big break" and failing miserably every time. You literally only become "legend" by dying. By going for the top you've completely stopped trying to save yourself, and if you've romanced anyone, they can tell you've given up, Judy straight up breaks up with you lol. Straight forward "happy endings" don't exist in this story, in this universe, because hey, under our current capitalistic hellscape, they sure don't either.

Despite popular opinion, the ending with V taking that one “last job” is my favorite. He/She have almost run out of time, and they plan out to go out in a blaze of glory, just like the game kind of alludes to with Dex at the beginning of the game. Other than that, hopefully DLC expands on these endings a little bit more

update to that here: unfortunately, CDPR has confirmed that the story is completely finished and there won't be a continuation of it. There will be DLCs which contain their own stories, which have nothing or only a little bit to do with mainstory. Very sad about this tbh. I like all the endings, each of them conveys a heavy hitting, huge message. But atleast give us one perfect ending, where atleast V get's to live out her whole life and does not only have 6 months. Maybe even an ending where Jhonny gets a new body. I'd pay for that dlc, bigtime.

This is totally unrelated but in a 2-part-mission given by Regina Jones in Watsons, the one where you are required to track and steal something from a Russian fixer. You will also meet the fixer and his follower (a woman) in Konpeki Plaza when you arrived at your apartment's floor. If you evasdropped them they said they are going to meet with the Japanese or sth (I remember) if you do it before "The Heist" when you are sneaking into their hotel suite in Watson; dunno if they will say the same conversation after the heist when you go do the same mission though.

Through out the game I refused to murder, drink and smoke my attitude towards me and others were always in a positive light, so giving Johhny a body really made me realize he had learned a lot and if he could teach that to others...
