Thank you so much for your content. I appreciate the little nuanced things that you explain, that make learning this stuff a lot easier than others. As a learner, I NEED the "why". Not just " This is what you do and this is what happens". Also, I am enrolled in the Live - BHIS SOC Core Skills Pay What You Can, because you mentioned them in another video and showed me how to access their awesome courses

I've used linux on and off for many years and know the basics but recently made the switch to using it full time (bye bye windows). So i followed along and did this myself as i could see no danger in what was happening in this particular instance. I had no idea it was so simple to create a backdoor like this with netcat, which i haven't really used before, very cool.

wow.. I have been working with computers for 30+ years now. I am a software developer, and know my way around any OS. But this is the first time I've seen it explained so well. I even learned some new stuff now :o I guess I will try that course.

I like how you speak in predictable tones throughout your sentences. I started humming "oh holy night" and it was matching that tone while you are speaking. I suspect that this is something learned through learning to make videos like this. But I suspect it's really similar to how different songs follow "standard meter" so you can put the lyrics of the old pokemon theme to the tune of amazing grace.

John, "ifconfig" isn't exactly deprecated but now separated into a different package. Since in Linux, "ip" and "ifconfig" nearly does the same (ifconfig might have a little different functionality) which make sense and the package that brings ifconfig is called "net-tools". Sometimes distros don't ship this package out of the box but can be install thru package manager or compiling it locally. Also, you can do "ip a" ("a" is like an alias of addr) :)

Hey John. I really like your content, so don't take this the wrong way. I've been wondering why I regularly have trouble focusing throughout your videos, and I think I've come to the conclusion that it's because you speak very "loudly" (not in amplitude obviously, but in articulation), which when listening for longer periods of time, can become quite mentally tiring. A bit like being yelled at for 21 minutes. Not sure if it's just my neurodivergent ass, but I thought I'd mention it. I mean, I assume you compress the audio as well to increase loudness, and if people need it louder, they can just increase the volume. I am 100% sure people will still find your videos interesting and engaging with a little less power on the speak. Keep up the great work though!

See, I would've seen "pay what you can" and then come across "minimum payment" and closed the page thinking it was a scam. I've probably missed out on several cool, free things for that very reason. Then again, I've likely missed out on a bunch of scams for that very reason, also.

9:50 this is a perfect example of cerebral flatulence, known to some as the cerebral segfault or, simply, the "brain fart". It takes a few seconds for the brain to reboot after crashing. Because the brain and mouth are so directly intertwined, cerebral segfaults typically manifest as repeated illegible grunts, though it is not uncommon to experience a wide variety of sounds, including barks, meows, voiced vowels, and more. These crashes should be infrequent, though can be exacerbated by lack of caffeination, lack of sleep, or lack of medication. Frequent crashes may be a sign of neurological issues and should be reviewed by a doctor. Be sure to take care of your biocomputer so that your biocomputer can take care of you@
