Hi Victor. Great interview! I am absolutely loving your channel. I am also a KZbinr with a mature beauty channel called Fifty Plus Beauty. Most importantly though I have a son who is short in stature at 5’8”. I know that being slightly shorter has always been a bit challenging for him in life. I have offered to give him a certain amount of money toward a surgery if he would like to do it. I have a question though I hope you can address on your channel as I think it would make a wonderful video. If you have already addressed this on your channel, please direct me to the correct video for this. My son and I live in Wichita Kansas and there are obviously probably no surgeons that do this. That means we will have to travel. I think a great video would be about the traveling aspect of having this type of surgery. I know Dr. Paley insists that patients stay down in Florida for I think three months. This doctor you are interviewing in this video I know she also recommends a stay but I’m not really sure how long she would want us to stay. I think if you would do a video about the whole issue of traveling and what that entails that would be a just wonderful video. It’s so funny. I just saw your channel maybe a week ago and learned that height improvement is an option. I was almost embarrassed to bring the idea up with my son because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings as he has only made a few comments over the years about the challenges of being shorter. When I got my courage up though and mentioned the possibility to him, he said he had just read about it for the first time two weeks ago! I think you and your channel are going to start getting a lot more attention as I really believe this whole area will be growing significantly. Thank you for bringing this information to everyone. And interesting part of the traveling video I think would be to explain the least amount of time you should stay in the locale of the surgeon and how it works trying to do much of the PT part in your home city. Also, about how often you generally need to fly back to see the doctor. There is a lot to the traveling issue and I think it would make some great videos. Maybe even interviewing each doctor or each good doctor about how they handle out of area patients. PS, I just finished the video and realize this doctor did say that she makes the patient stay through the lengthening process, but we are so knew it is that we don’t know how long that will take. Does that mean three months? That kind of thing.

Hi Beth thanks so much for reaching out. First of all it’s awesome that you are an amazing KZbinr gives me great inspiration to keep going and grow the channel. But even more than that you're an amazing mother who is willing to support her son through a procedure like this. Seriously, most parents are not supportive so it's refreshing to see how you are changing that. Now, regarding your son and him wanting to get statue anything done you’re right there’s not many surgeons in the Midwest that actually do this surgery let alone cosmetically for height alone. Therefore when you think about it the interview with most of the surgeons do you prefer the patient to stay on site however I am working on a new surgeon selection service with a few top lengthening surgeons in the US that do permit him to travel back home so long as he can send x-rays and do physiotherapy multiple times a week to stay flexible enough. Here is my site: cyborg4life.com/ (reach out via contact page) so that we can discuss this in more depth however I would like to also help suggest some specific advice for your son’s situation.

She seems like an amazing doctor very experienced. I’m interested in patients who get only one side lengthened and how they feel after the surgery and if the patient feels any difference in way of thinking. Which is not probable since my surgeon in Cali said it wasn’t so.

If you want to test how much inch u can get with this surgery , here is the simple example : My left Femur 48 cm and right Femur 48 cm too . 48 x 20 ÷ 100 = 9,6 So that means I can push 9,6 cm for each Femur leg , that's my safe limit (my ) 20% of ur bone height is safe . I heard this information from many doctors,like in this video doctor said same thing
@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
Yup that's the theoretical math ... if only muscle length in real-life scenarios plays nicely with those calculations
@PoliticalWatcher4 жыл бұрын
Dr Conway says you can leg lengthen twice with the internal rod. For example, for Stryde in femurs, first time lengthen femurs to 5cm. Then a year later, with Stryde still in femurs, break femurs a second time and lengthen again 3cm more for the full 8cm limit. However, the second time of lengthening, don't you have to pay another $90k+ in addition to the first time?
@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
Great question and maybe not have to pay the full amount since the rods are already in there which saves a lot? I didn't think of that. But yeah, I suppose the benefit is to gain length you wouldn't have been able to otherwise and not have to go through a whole other segment like the tibia/fibula which is more complex than femurs - just my thoughts
@PoliticalWatcher4 жыл бұрын
@@Cyborg4Life I heard somewhere (estimate, but not confirmed) that a pair of Stryde rods is about $35k. So even with a second time of lengthening, that's still over $60k. But if you just lengthen all 8cm the first time, you don't have to pay for that extra $60k+.
@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
@@PoliticalWatcher Yeah that's true and I agree, hopefully everyone's muscles are flexible enough to attain 8cm without resistance to avoid a second surgery to hit the same goal

Great interview. Whats your opinion on getting both sections done(2.5in on all four sections)? Do you think its safe?
@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын

@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
That should be okay but you would need to pick an experienced surgeon to monitor your progress along the way. I don't think knock knees would be an issue if they understand LL and not just putting nails in left and right

@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
Glucosamine does help rebuild and remodel cartilage so I suppose it's possible some spinal discs are included here but I'd have to look into research to know for sure. Spinal decompression is always a great idea though - which keeps a healthy spine and I suppose could prevent excessive axial loading and retain your max height

If you got 5cm on your femurs you would most likely have no problems getting your athletic ability back as that is a very conservative amount for thigh bone. 5cm on tibias is much more difficult.

Dr. Giotakis seems like a good choice. He also offers a more affordable price tag for the procedure. 27k for externals 45k for internal(precise nail) 65k for quad lengthening(all four sections) You can basically get two procedures done for less than one procedure in the U.S.

Hi, if the person has one femur shorter than the other by 4 cm and the tibia shorter by 1 cm. Is it possible to do both one go. or ignoring the 1 cm difference in the tibia since its only 1 cm .
@Cyborg4Life4 жыл бұрын
Great question and although a surgeon could answer best I would say that it's most likely they could do both at the same time and possibly regard as a limb length discrepancy where insurance would cover a majority. But yes, they may also go with just the femur since it's the most significant.
