Same situation... always the shortest (or very close) in the classroom - elementary, middle & high school - looked into hormone growth therapy when I was a teenager but my parents didn't like the idea because it was not crystal clear how that would affect my body so, didn't happen. Went back as an adult; growth platelets fused. To go from 5'5" to 5'8" sounds incredible.

Dear Victor. Thanks for all your efforts to make people aware about limb lengthening. I know you have undergone limb lengthening. Talking about borns, i would like to talk about cartilage today. As an ENT surgeon, I have a feeling by looking at you that you have Septal Deviation. I am nobody to tell you, but it is worth consulting an ENT surgeon in your country. It requires an X-ray of the PNS (paranasal sinus), to confirm the diagnosis. If you do have it, you will require a small surgery to correct it. It could be done under local anaesthesia.

The last I read, Paley required his patients to be there for the entire lengthening and consolidation process. That’s simply not feasible for most people. I wish he eased up on that requirement.
@sachemofboston36493 жыл бұрын
@@rickc.3552 he’s not going to ease up on that, that’s a big reason why his practice is so successful. If you don’t want to be there the entire time then go to a different surgeon.

Cyborg I have a question, is getting 8cm in your Femur worse than getting 4cm in your femur and 3cm in your tibia? I thought the entire posterior chain was linked so wont lengthening 8cm on the Femurs be equal to doing 4cm on the femurs and 3cm on the tibia, especially since the tibias recover worse?
@Cyborg4Life3 жыл бұрын
Well one surgery is often better than two but if you're worried about proportions then the latter may be better. Tibias tend to recover slower but not always
@team3gaming7493 жыл бұрын
@@Cyborg4Life The reason why I asked is because he said if you got 8cm you’re trading function for height, but he then went on to say he would get work done on his tibias if he wanted more height. Cyborg isn’t doing it this way with 2 surgeries more detrimental to function and the physical activities he mentioned he liked to do? I know he can make a full recovery but wouldn’t it be harder?
@edwardh49763 жыл бұрын
One more important question guys. Let's say I am a runner and I am able to run a 5k race in 20 minutes. After getting the surgery will I be able to get a similar time? Like is it POSSIBLE if I work extremely hard? This is my definition of recovering 100%.
@averyjudgementalsoldier83033 жыл бұрын
You will be able to recover. It’s going to take a Long time, though... Also would not recommend doing this if you’re going to be athletic. Because you’re going to have to learn how to walk and run again.

I honestly wouldn't feel short at all if I were 6ft 183cm, and I'm not that far from 6ft being that I'm 179.9cm or 5'10 3/4 (practically 5'11"), but my dad and little brother are quite tall. Dad is 183.8cm or 6'0.38" and little brother is 6'0.5" or 184.3cm and easily gives the impression of being 6'1"/6'2". It does bug me a bit that I'm shorter than them. [Edit] actually I am far from 6ft 183cm being that I'm 179.8cm. 3cm is actually a big difference.

@@peterwellington7338 yes he actually is completely wrong, these numbers he is throwing out have no basis in reality. Being crippled from limb lengthening is extremely rare and I’m unaware of a single case of that happening from a well known doctor. There is a temporary loss of function of course but if you stick to your PT it is possible for anyone to make a full recovery. You have to put in the work. This surgery is very dangerous however if you go to some unknown, third world doctor trying to get as much money as possible. As long as you do your research and stick to the safe doctors and PT it’s not a particularly dangerous surgery.
