@@henrylogman5368 It's because of what it represents - Irish people living in Ireland pretending to be British, ultimately it's the English who are British and the vast majority of people in England couldn't care less about Northern Ireland, you'd also find there is great support for a united Ireland in England.

truefalse Well that’s your opinion . You say there’s great support in England , the same can’t be said for our “neighbours” down south , majority don’t want it ! I'm an Irish American descendant from the Coyle and Jackson families of County Cork. As a student of 18th and 19th century rudimental drumming in America (musical roots in England and Ireland), I'm amazed at the lack of rudimental proficiency the modern Irish bands exhibit in the drum line. The history preserved in the US and Canada from 200+ years ago were approximately 30 rudiments or lessons of the drum. Observation in holding the sticks are inverted in this video. Left hand should be using traditional grip resting between the hand and the third finger. The right hand grip should be closed around the stick in the Swiss style. Rolls include the Long Roll followed by the 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 15 stroke rolls played hand to hand. Tapps, strokes, and poing, flam, stoke and flam, flam and stroke, single para diddle, double para diddle, side para diddle diddle, ruffs, half drags, full drags, single drag, double drag, single rotamacue, and double rotamacue. These rudiments were carry over from the British Army and Navy of the 18th century and 19th century, an earlier high style of rudimental performance done mostly by lads under 16 years of age serving in the corps of drums. I'm sure there would be copies of historic drum books available in the UK, but the preserved reference here is based upon USMC Drum Major Charles Stewart Ashworth, published in 1816 "A New And Complete System of Drum Beating." A copy here one can find under $40.00 USD online. Another is the "Drummer's and Fifer's Guide" by Drum Major George Bruce and Fife Major Dan Emmett, published in 1864. Again under $50.00 USD. Both works are filled with historic Irish, Highland, and British duty tunes and quicksteps in 6/8, 2/4, common time 4/4, and troop or quick retreats in 3/4 and 9/8 time. I would challenge all Irish drummers to look into and learn these historic lessons or rudiments. You will improve your musicianship and rediscover a rich drumming heritage that wasn't forgotten across the pond. Erin go brah! And Three Cheers!

Good to see an Orange band play a totally non-sectarian tune as Running Bear and come up with such a great and unique rendition in the process. I'm not Orange and looking at the comments section, there's quite a few compliments from outside the PUL constituency. Excellent drumming from that young lad.
@bloodboughtbigphilr82663 жыл бұрын
@Keith Robertson I'm neither Orange nor Green for the simple reason one can be as blinkered as the other but they've both got the right to express themselves and a bit of live and let live goes a long way. What's bigoted about that?
@bloodboughtbigphilr82663 жыл бұрын
@Keith Robertson If it was a Republican band knocking out Running Bear as this outfit have done, I would be saying the same thing. My comment like most of the non Orangies on this page was to do with the musical merit not wider religio-politics. Are you saying that these bands and marches should all be cancelled?
@bloodboughtbigphilr82663 жыл бұрын
@Keith Robertson I'm no expert on Orange marches and I know full well that the lyrics to some of their tunes can be anything but savoury. I also know that the musical repertoire of even the most visceral 'blood and thunder' or 'kick the Pope' flute bands extends beyond the tribal anthems, including many non-political ditties and can't all be counted as sectarian.This is even more so with the accordion, pipe and concertina silver bands amongst their number. I certainly would not dismiss all their participants as hate filled bigots but would agree with you that the hatred on both sides of the divide needs to stop.
