Love your work mate. Last time I saw you you were making dirt highway touring look easy. Now you're king of the deadly treadly! I fell in love with Sth Korea in '86 when I arrived on tramp cargo ship. We spent months working around Korean ports and my memories of my times ashore there remain among my most treasured possessions. Really staunch people and great tucker. It's changed heaps but I bet the kimchi tastes as good.

Hi Nic, Thanks for the positive feedback...glad you enjoyed the show. I bought a new drone and this was its maiden voyage; a DJI Mini 4 Pro. For a small drone, they are surprisingly good at what they do. I'm thinkin' of the east coast of Malaysia in February so watch this space. See you on the other side.

As usual great stuff Steve. Is it a case of it’s all about the challenge of completing the journey because to me South Korea does not look like the most exciting, picturesque place to visit 🤔🤷
@mongreldogproductions
@mongreldogproductions 2 күн бұрын
@@wadeperrie I’d done SEAsia to death and was revisiting some parts of it for the fourth time (Thailand 4 visits, Vietnam 3 times, Cambodia twice blah blah blah) and so I was looking at options. The 4 Rivers Trail came up in conversation. I did Jeju to extend my journey to make the trip overseas worthwhile. I’m not sorry I did. It’s always an interesting way to experience another culture. I’m thinking the east coast of Malaysia next just as a quick getaway before the Desert riding season here in Oz. 🤔

Steve. How much does it cost to ship your bike by aircraft?👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
@mongreldogproductions
@mongreldogproductions Күн бұрын
Hi AH, Yeah, interesting question; cheaper than you think. Bikes, like surfboards or golf clubs, are considered to be 'sporting equipment'. I just pay for extra baggage allowance (i need 40kg's plus my 7kg cabin baggage) and the bike just gets loaded as over dimensional and is packed separately on the same aircraft. It probably costs about $60-80 AUD but varies from carrier to carrier. Because I tow the trailer, the rear axle is different so hiring a bike in country is not an option for me. It all goes pretty seamlessly...it aint my first rodeo😂😂
@alasdairhamilton1574

How many Japanese cars, electronics, really anything did you see on your tour, my guess is none. I asked a Korean once about their relations with Japan, it was not a very polite response.
@mongreldogproductions
@mongreldogproductions 2 күн бұрын
Now that you mention it, I didn’t see a lot of (if any) Japanese cars on the road. Korea is a very developed country and probably has its own manufacturing industries to meet the needs of their population. Extract from Google; South Korea today is a world leader in advanced manufacturing including in sectors such as shipbuilding, semiconductors, automobiles, and consumer electronics.13 Nov 2024. Thanks for watching.

@@mongreldogproductions About half way between Seoul and Pusan in the middle of the country is their war museum, a very impressive place. It goes into a lot of detail about the many times the Japanese have invaded Korea over the last thousand years. FWIW the exact comment I got when asked about working with Japan is, " They have tried to invade us 12 times and failed, I am not helping them do it again.
