@@SkippyRockGame I love great wood, and use it for furniture, cabinets, guitars, etc., but the wood strips you used for the CycleKart are really plain, and the filler would also show. Now if you had used cocobolo, or bubinga . . . The wrap will make the car look like a professional show car; exposed wood would look half-finished.

What an awesome build! Love this so much. I would definitely recommend keeping the wood showing but add some painted stripes. Some big round headlights would look killer too. I made a suspension seat for my ebike over the summer and wrapped it in some baseball mitt brown leather. Something similar would look great on this build. Instead of marring up that wood finish, consider putting bump stops on the steering rack so it stops the wheel from rubbing the wood.

Also what was all the electric parts that you have looked in description and wasn't there. I'm possibly thinking about building one but instead of metal (don't know how to weld and don't own a welding machine) i'm planning on using wood (don't know how long it would last because when it dry's it starts cracking.) keep up the excellent job and excellent craftsmanship. In terms of questions, how efficient is it? And did you consider maybe getting a flexible solar panel to be mounted as the body of the car like the Aptera? That way, you'll have lesser range anxiety.😂 Also, how comfortable is it without any read suspension?
@SkippyRockGame
@SkippyRockGame Ай бұрын
So when I ran out of battery. Which apparently I ran out of go pro battery also, so it wasn’t recorded. I hadn’t charged the battery since the last use. Which was right before the last video came out. With a full charge I made it to the front and back of my neighborhood. Which is a mile each way. And the full loop which was another 2 miles. Then my kids and neighbors tried it just up and down the street. That didn’t even put a dent in the battery meter. I bet this thing could drive further than a 2012 Nissan leaf! The issue with charging is it’s a 72 (technically 76v) volt battery. So the best way to charge would be from one of those Anker power banks that have the fold out solar panels and have inverters for 120/240 output. Then I could just have that thing charging up while I drive. I bet at an event I could drive as much as I wanted in a day on a full charge. Then charge up over night and be ready to go the next day.

I am just about finished building a Ford Transit Camper Van and have been looking for the next project. You have inspired me. I have also built a cedar strip canoe and your build is very similar. Can you give me a rough estimate of how much money you have in this and was that really going 50mph?
@SkippyRockGame
@SkippyRockGame 8 күн бұрын
That’s awesome. I’m currently trying to find a sprinter van for a build! I want it to be able to travel and camp. And maybe haul this thing to events! Yes. It really went 50. And honestly if the programming was right on the controller, it would go faster. But it doesn’t need to, 30-40 is really where it’s fun and not terrifying. I have close to $5000 in it. The motor and controller combo was 1300, and the battery another 1000. This is versus using gas which would just be a couple hundred dollars. The parts from renegade cyclekart were about 1200, you could save some by making your own. Then metal. Wood. Wheels. Pain. Epoxy. Nuts and bolts. All that little stuff adds up for the rest of the cost.

@@SkippyRockGameAfter drying I covered it with a thin layer of epoxy. The bike is stored out of the sun and I cycle on the beach on the weekends for a few hours, so after almost 10 years everything seems to be fine. Just a little yellow on the outside. I follow a channel where a couple has been building a wooden catamaran with a beam of about 65 feet for 3 years. They do everything themselves and with very simple equipment. One detail is that the guy is over 70 years old. They went around the world a few years ago in a boat like that. They have a lot of experience and usually waterproof with epoxy diluted in alcohol, then apply a layer of UV varnish. If you're curious, the channel is "Guruçá ao sabor do mar". It's a Brazilian channel. They record the process in great detail from the beginning. There's tons of content there.

So this motor and controller kit from electric and Co was $1074. Plus shipping. You can find this motor for cheaper and get a different controller and save money. But you’ll need to make your own wiring harness and do all your own programming. Which id be more willing to do now than when I got it. But, in one of my other videos I got a $299 motor from amazon, 3000w 72v motor with controller and lots of switches. It would be fun if you built something super light. And if you look up my power wheel video. I used a $200 2000w motor and controller from Amazon and it works good for that. But in a heavier build it just isn’t fun. And you’ll burn out the motor.
