I am just about finished building a Ford Transit Camper Van and have been looking for the next project. You have inspired me. I have also built a cedar strip canoe and your build is very similar. Can you give me a rough estimate of how much money you have in this and was that really going 50mph?
@SkippyRockGame
@SkippyRockGame 8 күн бұрын
That’s awesome. I’m currently trying to find a sprinter van for a build! I want it to be able to travel and camp. And maybe haul this thing to events! Yes. It really went 50. And honestly if the programming was right on the controller, it would go faster. But it doesn’t need to, 30-40 is really where it’s fun and not terrifying. I have close to $5000 in it. The motor and controller combo was 1300, and the battery another 1000. This is versus using gas which would just be a couple hundred dollars. The parts from renegade cyclekart were about 1200, you could save some by making your own. Then metal. Wood. Wheels. Pain. Epoxy. Nuts and bolts. All that little stuff adds up for the rest of the cost.

excellent build, just some idea's. A center column for battery % and speedometer (misspelled) Love the wood but I would have covered the shell with thin aluminum so you can shape it as you would like. Also what was all the electric parts that you have looked in description and wasn't there. I'm possibly thinking about building one but instead of metal (don't know how to weld and don't own a welding machine) i'm planning on using wood (don't know how long it would last because when it dry's it starts cracking.) keep up the excellent job and excellent craftsmanship. @@SkippyRockGame Yes, it makes sense. Just don't do like me and protect the wood as soon as possible. It rained and stained all the wood...
@SkippyRockGame

Man. That sucks. The epoxy and fiberglass I’ll be using is marine grade. So it should be good for water. But UV is bad for epoxy. So if I leave it just wood. I’ll have to varnish the entire thing.
@patricksimas1193
@patricksimas1193 Ай бұрын
@@SkippyRockGameAfter drying I covered it with a thin layer of epoxy. The bike is stored out of the sun and I cycle on the beach on the weekends for a few hours, so after almost 10 years everything seems to be fine. Just a little yellow on the outside. I follow a channel where a couple has been building a wooden catamaran with a beam of about 65 feet for 3 years. They do everything themselves and with very simple equipment. One detail is that the guy is over 70 years old. They went around the world a few years ago in a boat like that. They have a lot of experience and usually waterproof with epoxy diluted in alcohol, then apply a layer of UV varnish. If you're curious, the channel is "Guruçá ao sabor do mar". It's a Brazilian channel. They record the process in great detail from the beginning. There's tons of content there.

So the cyclekart is a class of vehicles that are suppose to replicate old race cars and the guidelines are pretty ridged on size. But you could easily build this with the same wheel base just with the petals closer to the seat! But, I see you commented on my other go kart series. And yeah.
