After racing for years and with many trophies, I drove up the Peak last summer in a Ford Expedition, and, could not believe how sick this road is. I was scared to death in an SUV....I just cannot imagine the courage and strength these people have. Don't die before you have a chance to climb this mountain.

The raw emotion at the top. It truly revealed just how much relief you had that it was over. Knowing what can happen on that mountain. Relief, pride, joy, excitement, accomplishment, adrenaline, and then...horror and sadness, and feeling like it could have just as easily been you... I don’t know how you held together all those emotions at one time. I really wish it didn’t have to be so bitter sweet...you rode your ass off!! Congratulations!!!

Loved every minute of that roller coaster ride! From straight ripping and nailing the turns, to the butt pucker moments avoiding the guardrail, and what seemed like backing it down just a smidge on the bumpy top section. My favorite has to be the raw emotion once past the finish line. Love seeing Fillmore coming to congratulate you. Once you hear the actual time your emotions overtook me some and I teared up. I can only imagine the amount of focus that mountain demands. You can hear it in your breathing as all those emotions come out at once. Congrats yet again on an awesome ride and the new record. R.I.P. Carlin

Do you think the organisers decision to permanently remove bikes from the event was right? Or do you feel that the riders know and accept the risks so it should be their choice like the Isle of Mann TT? (Sorry for the loss of your friend). I think painting the corners an alternating black/white pattern, some air crash barriers or catch nets near big drops, and running more free practice could help make it safer for bikes, but the sand/dust getting blown onto the road will always make the traction vary in unpredictable ways.

Congrats on your victory Rennie! Outstanding riding. Fantastic camera positions too. I especially love the one on the left front corner. I got to watch intently to how the ohlins was behaving. Were you completely comfortable with the setting? I thought i noticed a few times when she wanted to start a little head shake as you drove out of a turn. Steering damper? LoL, I'm no racer, just a rider and enthusiast. That moment starting at 5:42 - great save! Thank you, and the whole team, for this video. My condolences to all who knew and loved Carlin Dunne. Weight keeps me from racing, but not stunting, and I’m a mad scientist on a sport bike, or any bike for that matter! So I know skill when I see it and man this cat can ride! I don’t know how he comes off those corners so hard my bike would go crazy trying to get on the throttle at that much Lean angle even with sticky warm tires! I would love to just cruise to the top!

Has everything switched off but map on the softest sport. Glad I'm not the only one who finds this a nice smooth map! Not sure why the brake reservoir is on the left though?
@snaphook315 жыл бұрын
I noticed that about the reservoir as well. But, that wasn't just in the Sport map. If you watched some of the older videos, there is a guy that that flew from Italy to build custom maps for him. Having just been in Steamboat Springs, CO, I get why. The altitude really saps power. I was having to wring up the RPM's considerably to get the same power, and there was lag - which the guy from Aprilia solved for Rennie. No way he would have that much engine braking like Sport mode generates.
@cyclenews5 жыл бұрын
That was for the thumb rear brake. The map says Sport, but in reality, it was all custom. We only had it in Sport as that was the map that got the custom treatment. The ECU was actually a Marelli unit from Italy with a custom throttle and engine brake map.
@cyclenews5 жыл бұрын
@@snaphook31 I actually had more engine braking with the custom map we made with Nicola from Italy, but it was only from 9000 rpm to 5000 rpm to help pull me into the corner. From 12,000 rpm to 9000 rpm it had less engine braking and more freewheel, which helped straight-line braking. -- Rennie
