Thank you! I looked it up after and it certainly looks like one, but I'm still not sure because it was mid-July. I'm hoping someone can say for sure if they sometimes keep them up that long.

how did you stay in europe for 5 months, I thought visa gives only 3 months?

I am an Irish citizen, so the Schengen rule does not apply to me or my family traveling with me.

Yes, before the train, it was mostly slightly downhill except for the climb to Mallnitz. On the northern side, it was much more up and down but overall a loss of about 750m over 2 days.
