For the short version: • Cycling in China, Yunn...
Cycling in Yunnan, China is particularly, adventurous and challenging. It is the superlative of everything you can cycle in Asia. An impressive nature, old towns and at height cycling, which meant that much between 2000 and 3000 meters we cycled. The highest point where you come with the bike is almost 3800 meters.
The route starts in Dali and goes via Lijiang to Zonghdian (Shangri La) Then over the mountains above the 3000 meter to Baishutai with its beautiful limestone plateaus.
Than through the Tiger Leaping gorge and over beautiful roads back to Dali.
The total distance of this cycling tour is about 1100 km.

We did this same trip 20 years ago but not by bike . Sleeper bus and train . Lijiang is a stunner , amazing place to spend time among the minoritie people of china . Shangri la was a amazing place to see , nothing like travelling. I regard myself lucky to have seen these places . Diqing was our final stopover after that it was Tibet . The mingyong glacier was a great site to see . Good video . Very well made and beautiful music .

Wow, I really admire the filming, the captures, your trip! Also the breadth and scope ! I traveled by mountain bike, thru here, in '99 and wish I had ventured as wide in my passage, though I am glad I rode (yes, mostly rode) the high trail thru the TLG. My hats off to both of you; you inspire to go adventuring w an inquisitive and searching sweep. Wonderfully done, and thank you.

Can’t believe it’s been 11 years. So many changes happened. Yunnan province is still beautiful but more modern nowadays. Some traditional culture is disappearing even ppl try to protect it. Because more and more young generation become different nowadays. I don’t think it in a good or bad way. It’s inevitable with the economy developing. But thanks for recording all this. Remind me of so many good memories when I was young.

Very authentic music- food- love... my heart would break into a 1000 pieces if this 'culture' was lost! China is a very safe place (ouside of the odd con artist) and and if I knew what I know now, I would've spent all my time here... the Bashaitai water is naturally very clean. Moves me to tears watching this... you must know how much this means to a twin cyclist/ lover of China/ rock (geo. tech)!

Hoping to go here asap... got PTSD from all the trouble around SARS (got it there). I felt all the fears, and all the feels- every one...(feeds into my lifework in a very good way even though it takes my whole being- humanity work- very important). I mention it only because its why I didn't see 'this area' at the time and I can see your deep experience of China ( good to know someone is watching). You know the real China which not many people do. Look forward to getting back to here :)

I am very sorry, but I don't have a video from our equipment. When we cycling in Asia we have very little with us. Some clothes, rain suit, extra shoes, extra cycling shorts, spare tires and what tools. I cycle on a steel bike made in Holland and my wife on an aluminum bike likewise in Holland-made. I film with a sony HD handycam XR550 and I don't use a tripot. Last year in Sri Lanka I used for the first time gps on my smartphone. When cycling on the road, never cycling side by side and as a bicycle traveler cycling never in the dark. And, you know, in differend country it is other cycling. In europe we have camp equipment with us. See also other videos on my channel bertvanvliet1 regards, Bert

@bertvanvliet1
@bertvanvliet1 10 жыл бұрын
@hoppa131
@hoppa131 10 жыл бұрын
