For decades, the Chinese have been taught by name brand manufacturers on how to build these products along with all the tools needed. So it was only a matter of time for them to get in on the action. Back in the 1990s we were rebuilding vehicle trim and bumpers that required rechroming, it was a long and complex process that includes cleaning and dipping a specific part into a vat of chromium-based solution. As the new u.s. regulations started to take effect and drive up cost, it was no longer profitable for us. You could actually ship the parts to China to be rechromed and back cheaper than we could do the process here in the u.s. Thanks for the video Jasper!

Giant, Time, Factor and now Winspace, when come to making carbon bikes and components, far east is the master. Don't really see much Western or Europe "Prestige" brand doing this as they have their production line outsourced to far east as well, Pinarello literally release a "How we painted our frame in Italy that came from far east" LMAO.

Geweldige video. Duh. Laat me raden waar ze dat inkopen doen.🤣

It was so sponsored, but also very interesting :). I mean sponsored in a good way. If money were no issue, or if I could get it for free, I'd choose Winspace over Pinarello any day. At least now we know where and how Winspace frames are made, which is more than you can say for carbon Pinarello or most other mainstream brands. China is the new Japan with amazing work ethics and bright minds behind their products. They should get rid of their western middlemen and do it their own way. Sadly for us customers, they have started to realize this, and prices are going up, so we don't have many chances left to get a discount as early adopters.
@pigupigu4 ай бұрын
Your pinarello is made in an lower tier facility than what's documented here. Fly to xiamen and have a tour.

With pro cyclists nobody questions what they say but with videos on KZbin…. The minute something is sponsored people think you are selling lies. (Not saying you are saying that though) I think the word “sponsored” has such a negative load for content creators….. the trip was paid for by Winspace sure, but everything else I had to do myself. You’d be surprised how little they actually came up with or input they had in this video…. I planned and wrote all the scripts and shots.. we had to look for people on location to be able to tell us something about the factories etc… About the middle man, that’s what Winspace does, they don’t have the western company and do it themselves direct to consumer. There is not really an extra link in the chain you can take out. The factories don’t sell direct to consumers or distributors so it can’t go more direct than this
@IvanMalechko4 ай бұрын
@@jasperverkuijl Thank you for your reply and for the great job putting both videos together in a watchable and engaging format. I can see it wasn't easy to get some of those guys excited about promoting their own product, lol. Production quality is top-notch as well. I really enjoyed both parts. 👍 For pro-peloton riders, I always keep in mind that Pogi is winning not because he rides a Colnago or uses "ketone-iq" or other branded products. There's often a difference between being sponsored and openly shilling someone's product for a paycheck without providing honest and valuable input, which I see in many undisclosed cycling channels, but not yours (I probably shouldn't have even mentioned this in the first place :)). And yes, that's what I meant: a direct-to-consumer model under their own brand name, at a reasonable price, as we see with Winspace, Yoleo, and some other Chinese wheel and frame manufacturers. They definitely need to improve their customer interactions and basic brand recognition and marketing. But I would rather support a manufacturer and designer directly than some US guy with an MBA degree who only came up with a fancy slogan and brand, along with that fake "designed in Oregon/California" sign (which is also not the easiest job sometimes, but not as honest, in my opinion).

Carbon fiber composite doesnt really fatigue (unlike aluminum). If their test caused fatigue, which would be measured as a change in deflection throughout the test or a change in load (depending on how the test is designed) that would indicate a problem with the part, so it would be scrapped.

@@jasperverkuijl i had it about 3 month ago if im not wrong. it very good bike. for senior rider agile is the best middle ground. because our back not as strong as before agile very forgiving the curve on top tube work very well it like tremor absorber. i love climbing ride agile geometry make shoulder more relax. the bottom bracket section is the best. i think because it very bulky on the bottom bracket. it give very good stability and when we rocking the bike it feel very responsive i feel very powerful when do dance.

@@Sam321goor that the brand (Winspace, scott, whatever) doesn’t make the bike, and so one winspace bike is not made the same as another (different factories), and the only thing that they “own” is the sticker on the side of the bike. No hate to winspace tho as I own a t1550
@jasperverkuijl4 ай бұрын
Well I believe that the brand designs the bike and sets specs for the frame. The factory has the knowledge to do the correct layup to meet these specs. So different specs from different brands will make different bikes. So no, they are not all the same with a different sticker. Even though they come from the same factory. (Check my other part of the documentary for more about this!)

Do you know the names of the other brands from the factories?

There are a bunch of factories like this one. If your western brand frame says made in china, you can confidently assume that they are made here.

I think manufacturer will never disclose their names (some of them), as per their client 's agreement. Its bad in business if we learned the "brands" manufacturing details.
@jasperverkuijl4 ай бұрын
Yes I’ve seen a lot of name tags, wheels and frames with logos etc etc from other brands. But I won’t tell which ones it are because I’m not going to damage the trust I’m given by the people that took me into their businesses. When we came in the frame factory (which is owned by a big brand) the logos of the factory name were hided before we started filming, same was for the wheel factory, plenty of logos all over the place but we where asked not to show it. So I won’t. That’s how it works. I’m glad I was allowed in and could show this

@@brucegelman5582 will do it with pleasure, wish a long lasting life to your chinarello, but I doubt it does. And again bikes made of t800 are twice cheaper. But I don't remember who else besides Ali bikes produce their bikes using that kind of materials. Even Yoeleo claims their bikes are made of t1100 toray, which is well used among the brands.
@jasperverkuijl4 ай бұрын
It’s all bullshit mate. According to Stephen, smaller brands can’t even get their hands on T1000 grade carbon because it’s also used in military etc and there is limited supply. A frame is usually a mix of different grades carbon. And the brand will proudly mention using T1000 or 1100 when they maybe use a piece of it in the frame (or not and just claim they do…) but it won’t be the complete bike from that material. T800 isn’t cheap, T1000 is just much more expensive. The new agile and SLC of Winspace use T1000 and new carbon technology to get a high end frame. The Winspace t1550 is notoriously stiff actually so not sure what you are talking about it being soft and heavy….

Also hearing from bad customer service after 2 years for a replacement fork (which isn't available anymore). Despite this brand marketing video through a bike influencer, It still makes me doubt to buy one of these. Change my mind.

There are always some negative experiences so I won’t deny whatever you’re saying. (Look at all the problems big brands like trek, Cannondale and socialized goes through so it’s not specific for Winspace..) I can only say what I’ve seen was very good and you can maybe try further with customer support
