Cycling in Nairobi, Kenya - Fight for space part 1

Why don't you just share the road with me? The government hasn't built me cycling lanes and they're not planning to. I pay tax, vote and build the economy just like you, and i'm not a lesser human because i'm on a bicycle. Let me show you some of the problems cyclists face while cycling in Nairobi. I have gone through this for over 30,000 Km and i hope you will at last share the road with me or build me a cycling lane.

He was saying indicating gives him the right to turn? That is coping out. Be safe man. I do my rides on Sunday very early in the morning on Thika Road. The cycling lanes give me alot of confidence. Stay safe bro.

I cycle daily through the city center to Westlands since 2015... ou should see me stealth, I bet yu would call me n my gang Heartless coz we go hard !!! It scrazy seeing yu do some of those fight for space stunts, you should join some time after this rona ting . Keep up the awareness and tag as The City leaders as much as possible bruh

It's great to hear from a cyclist who understands the plight. I have cycled in Nairobi since 2015 as well and at last I'm tired of cycling in the 'fight for space' way. I feel our government and all bodies involved should implement cycling lanes on every road work! Strange that we haven't bumped in to each other. Def after the Rona 👍🏾

In the first near miss, never overtake a vehicle on the right side of the road, because of blind spots on the vehicle

Do not try to fight against the vehicles near you. They are stronger than you, and you would be a victim when accident happens. Safety is the first priority.

The cyclist was at fault. I ride bicycles, motorbikes and cars on these roads so i have no bias. One major mistake is overtaking from the inside lane especially in juctions. When the vehicle infront of you slows down unexpectedly that is not the time to overtake. You should be asking youself why. Slow down or stop. As a rider this solves over half of your near hits, or is it misses?

Most car drivers are bullies, they pretend not to see cyclists. I also have began cycling just for fitness, I realised clothes I bought in January began to be very tight!, though I use back roads of Uthiru, waiyaki way I fear like plague, the psvs are money minded
