There's a version of that children's traffic park in NY called Safety Town. My school did a field trip for 3rd graders every year to go and everyone LOVED it. They have not just bikes but little cars to drive. It was so much fun!!

@tempesttube4 жыл бұрын
It’s blue compared to a U.S. one as well, but the word choice is really more of a lexical difference. 青(あお)which gets translated to blue, is actually anything in the blue-green spectrum.

Koenji is one of my favorite places to visit. There used to be a store called Thrashout which sold toys (sofubi) by Gargamel as well as some craft jewelry (but mainly toys). They also had art shows. It was a great store. Ichibanboshi was another great sofubi toy shop (not sure if it is still there) that was off the main shopping streets (I got lost looking for the store). I found a toy that I have been looking for at Ichibanboshi on my last day of shopping years ago. The owner was willing to ship it out so I ended up buying more toys to fill up the box (because EMS is the best way to ship but you pay a premium for it). There's also a really cool bar/toy store near the train called Godzilla-Ya (note to Sharla, Godzilla-Ya made some really awesome cat sofubi years ago). Next time I go to Japan, I will look for a hotel in Koenji.

The 'go' light color isn't green, it's cyan, or 'greenish-blue'. So really 青いですよ。
@jc3drums9164 жыл бұрын
Difficult to say watching a video, as there's no guarantee the color is 100% accurate to RL. But that's beside the point. From Wikipedia: "...even though most Japanese consider them to be green, the word _ao_ is still used to describe certain vegetables, apples, and vegetation. _Ao_ is also the word used to refer to the color on a traffic light that signals one to 'go'. However, most other objects--a green car, a green sweater, and so forth--will generally be called _midori_ ." As with several other languages, the distinction between blue and green is a relatively recent development in Japanese, and there are still holdovers.
