When cyclists share the road with motorists, they expect motorists to give way to them. When cyclists share the pavement with pedestrians, they ALSO expect them to give way. Entitled much??

Exactly my thoughts. When I ride my mtb on pavement I always am patience, because it's the pedestrian's way of right, not mine.

They shouldn't expect. A cyclist should act like a road vehicle. I would even be fine that cyclists require a sort of license that require the basics of theory. I only expect 2 way traffic basic etiquette to share the path. Most of the problem is that the infrastructure doesn't sort a cyclist in either the foot path or the road. I don't even consider a PCN a cyclist path as a pedestrian has every right to use it. But also everyone needs to consider the whole "stay left" to share the space. I believe that is not entitled at all

It's the obligation of everyone to be aware of their surroundings regardless of their mode of transport or path/road. There's idiots in all categories (at least in my experience).

I believe that a pathway is a 2 way system. There's a whole campaign by the garment to maintain pathway harmony which requires "head up" "stay left" etc you know the drill.

The solution to all of this would be for most of the ridiculous overbuilt multi lane roads and arterials to dedicate lane to be a protected bike path for cyclists. Singapore can really be the best country to walk, bike, drive, active transport, public transport in… but they need to dedicate actual, proper space for all these uses. Because Singaporeans in general are not courteous, and not food sharers of spaces but they are good at following law by law. “Bus here, cars here, bikes here, everyone else here” job done.

You say people no look. People also can say you no look wad. Main thing is that compared to the pedestrian, you are the one who can create more harm when you are on the footpath or PCN. So it is more important that you look out for them rather than the other way round. On the road, our infrastructure is not so pedestrian or cyclist friendly so no choice lor, got to slow down and look out for motorist before crossing zebra if you want to stay alive. Anyways ride safe bro.

sometimes it is really difficult to cycle in a place with plenty of pedestrians, as sometimes we don't know if the person will go left or right when they hear the bell

unfortunately the pathway should be bigger. it's difficult for people to share the space safely. I feel bad you got yelled out. Ive not have the same experience but my friend did for using his bell just to let the person know he is there.
