After spending a few weeks without seeing any foreigners, I head to the Shimanami Kaido cycle route which connects Honshu to Shikoku with 6 epic bridges.

Some of the best video production I've seen on KZbin. Definitely a career after the bike around the world adventure!!

I rode this area a year and a half ago and it was amazing. Looks like we slept in the same kind of places. I never had any issues with getting woken up early in a month of touring in japan and wild camping.

It's funny seeing the Lawson store, which are common in Japan. The chain started out in Ohio, USA, where I grew up, but they're long gone. You can read the history of the chain here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawson_(store)

Hi Adam - thanks for the video. I rode the Shimanami Kaido a couple of weeks ago - barely anyone out there! My hint to others wanting to ride it - wear proper padded bike pants! I'm not a cyclist but managed to ride Onomichi~Imabari in about 5hrs with many photo and refreshment stops.

That WAS AWESOME . YOU should consider buying a click-stand for your bicycle to prevent damage from laying the bike down. Anyway have a great day till the next one 📸👍👍👍👍📸🙏

Cheers mate. I’m slightly torn about using any sort of stand as more often than not my bike ends up falling over which causes more damage. Thanks for watching as always.

Shimanami Kaido was awesome, sadly it rained hard when I did it, you got much better views. I also met several people there. It's really cool to watch a video of yours and recognize the places you were in. I've watched all your videos and up till now they were all places I've never been.

That’s a shame about the rain. You’ll soon see that the good weather doesn’t stay with me for long (especially at Mt Fuji).

Cycling infrastructure in many countries is far superior than that of the U.K. where I live is a nightmare I have to cycle on busy main roads. Adam nice opening shot with the drone.

Hey Mr Hugil, I'm planning a 4 day ride from fukuoka to osaka spring 2020. If I may, how do I identify which roads cycling is allowed on google maps whilst route planning? Second, can one just camp anywhere??? 🤔. Lastly, where do you actually shower when you camp? Thanks in advance for answering if and when you have the time and keep the great videos coming! Stay safe out there!

You can cycle on smaller roads. I just use google maps usually in conjunction with maps.me (an app). I would camp where I felt it would be respectful. Not on somebody’s private property without permission. On Facebook there’s a group called “free camping and hot springs”. They have a map which is a great resource. I like how you assumed I shower 😆 On the coast they have showers that can be used by people that use the beach. Other than that I’ll often just be washing with no showers. Hope that helps 👍

I filmed a load of drone footage of the last bridge but somehow lost the footage. That’s where the thumbnail image was taken. Very annoyed with myself.

It really depends. Sometimes I’ll ask if there is someone to speak to. Usually I’ll just pitch up and leave early.
