Cycling the Nile Valley: this is the Real Egypt

Welcome to another video of my Egypt adventure! (4th episode out of 5). In this episode, we cycle from Asyut (where we parted ways with our friend Sharif) to Sohag (where we met up with our friend Shehab) and then all the way to Aswan in the south of Egypt. We explored new parts of the gorgeous Nile Valley, got escorted by the police (of course), and visited the ancient Egyptian monuments scattered along the river, from the Valley of the Kings in Luxor and the great temples of Madinat Habu and Karnak, to the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo further south. The person who loves the camera, interacting with people, travel, and story (speaking and writing). BTW, I loved your segment in this video where you are sitting and talking to us inside the temple. I love what you said, your emotion and the composition! I discovered Rob and You yesterday. In a period of 20 hours I went from thinking, " I could never do that. " (because I'm 58 and out of shape, yet I have no creeks or aches) to now believing that I can with the right physical preparation. You see, I know the bond that riding a bike among nature and places brings. I know the emotional regulation/ sense of freedom that it brings. The sense of accomplishment. I know how it feels to ride/live the dream. Now I feel that it's something I must do: to take a long cycling trip and with others😊😊

This is so awesome and so authentic! Whenever I finish your videos I always wish there was more and to think that you filmed and and edited it all by yourself... It's like hard to imagine. And how aren't you dead after so much cycling. This trip isn't just entertainment, it's extremely inspirational, and whether it gets the millions of views (it rightfully deserves) or not, the impact you make you'll probably never know. Brilliant film. Loving your travels. And like you said, it's not just about visiting the tourist sites. I travel by folding bike & train, so get to cycle round each place I visit, away from the tourist spots & meet locals, interact, see how other people live. I don't always document it like you, but it gives so many more interesting experiences & memories. Though I do indulge in ancient history when I can. I don't know how far behind this is from where you are now, but I'm wondering about your time in Sudan & how ok it is/has been. You read a lot of reviews of Egypt on various travel forums and many are negative, but none mention the other side - the one that you've been showing. Excellent 🙂

So I've read Juliana Buhring'sbook, and I follow Lael Wilcox wherever she goes, and I know all about Mark Beaumont. Even without the police and all, you've made an incredible head start on an Africa crossing. Superbly inspiring. Do take any neceessary precautions please.
