Dan is one of those guys you would call a legend. I saw him posting online in cycle touring groups and drove from Los Angeles to Monument valley to meetup with him and tell his story. Things take a turn at the end of the day and we witness Dan do his 80th suicide intervention. Then things take another turn, something every cycling fears while road biking.
If you are struggling and need help, there are resources here: opaatmovement....
Dan runs a non-profit that gives away suicide prevention trainings called OPAATM. (One Pedal At A Time Movement). You can donate here: opaatmovement....

My husband had two attempts before we even met when we were 16/17 years old. One time the gun jammed, the other was pills and alcohol and its by sheer luck that family found him before it was too late. Before he met me he lived a horribly abusive life, no one truly cared for him, not even his own family. He had nothing to live for until me, and now our daughter. What's sad is I know that if something were to ever happen to us, he would go right back into a very dark place and would most likely attempt again. It's been almost 10yrs since we've been together and I'm always trying to give him other things to live for, something to keep him here, cause you never know what can happen in life.

Hi Dan, I'm very obsessed with your video, and your camper, since I've seen yours I've been blown away, I'm building one too, but I'm having a bit of a problem and I think I'll build the same one as you you have it, your shape is great and the color also goes with my recumbent bike, how did you choose your size as far as your camper is concerned, I would be very grateful if you could tell me a few details, you may have a Facebook Side of you ??, you could send me something there, wine friend request, I'll defend you very grateful Dan, I myself come from Germany, and we also build campers, but I think yours is one of the best, I've translated everything via Google because my English is not so good, I hope that you were able to read everything, Greetings Andreas from Germany

You are such an inspiration. Honestly. I am "VERY GLAD" you are still here. Really. I struggle. But I have decided to try your therapy. I am planning to ride my bike from Washington D.C. back to Pittsburgh Pa. this summer. (This has aroused great excitement in me. I am 63 years young. And sometimes feel alone and useless.) Wishing you all the best. If I can get the equipment. I'll document my ride. Thank you so much for posting your journey. Sincerely. Ron C. Be well. Be safe. Be Blessed.

When riding in very desolate areas what do you do regarding food and water? How many miles do you ride per day on average, with all your gear.
@ridewithdanusa
@ridewithdanusa Жыл бұрын
With this setup I was able to carry typically 4 days of food and water in these areas. I typically didnt need more than 2 days of supplies at a time. My travel would vary but averaged about 40 miles.
