Seeing the world through Oakley Prizm coloured glasses

Eyewear is a curious battleground area in the world of cycling.
Almost without fail, every company claims that it's sunglasses are distortion-free, offer superb clarity, and heighten contrast to some degree so that you can better evaluate the world around you. And more often than not, they also claim to deliver cutting-edge style such that it's not just the surroundings that look better to your eyes; you supposedly look better in those surroundings as well.
Nevertheless, it's not often that those claims hold up to the light of day....

Great informative vid asking the right questions - thanks for making the effort. I think you've helped me make the decision on lenses for the Jawbreaker - to be used for motorcycling/road cycling (road lens), trail running/mountain biking (trail lens), golf (golf lens) etc. Just have to stump up the cash. I own Oakley Polarised with non-reflective coating; and Polarised with reflective "Iridium" coating. For me the non-reflective polarised have the best image so far. Reduce glare and increasing clarity, even in the shade. Driving a car, or riding a bicycle is a good test as you're constantly moving through different bright and dark spots. The Oakley's with reflective coating are so strong it impacts clarity. Some even gave me a headache. Only good in direct sun light, which is not practical. You don't sit in the sun all day. You're constantly moving while cycling, driving, or playing sport. I took a look at the new Prizm sunglasses. They were good, but comparable performance to common polarised lenses. Basically overpriced pink and purple lenses. They still put reflective coatings on almost all other product lines. Seems like they've lost their way. Good tour though. Was cooling seeing the headquarters.

Im proud of oakley! They have really dive in into the topic. The prism road, sapphire, grey, and black are so good lenses. I already knew for years, that oakley lenses are the only polycarbonate/plastic lenses which do not distort the vision. Of course rayban g15, serengeti,mauijim, vuarnet and other mineral lenses makers do have clearer optics because its glass, but they are heavy on the nose and cannot be worn for sport purpose or used half rims frames!. And Oakley are not far from them with optics and clear vision. But oakley lenses colour perception was much lower then serengeti sedona lens for instance. Or maui jim. The oakley prism have changed it! Now you can have beautiful vision with enchanced colours on a sport light, full or half rim frame. Is it for cycling, or running or just walking in the city. Amazing work Oakley- you prove to me that USA is still ahead of all the others in the way you think, improve, invent and manufacture. Nice! Many thanks!

@@smallnuts2 for driving i recommend using mineral glasses, because you enjoy the clearest and sharpest vision, while you do not need the low weight of plastic because you are sitting and not doing sport... Rayban G15, vaurnet pure grey, serengeti sedona/555/drivers, Maui Jim, etc.

@@smallnuts2 also its important to know the climate/light intensity youre driving in. If its not very very bright, Serengeti Drivers mineral lenses will be the best of the best. If the light is very strong, better use Maui Jim grey mineral lens, or Rayban G15 polerized mineral glass. Vuarnet Pure grey polarized mineral glass also for strong light. Persol green mineral polarized glass are also great.

Ok, was big into Oakley from the beginning then got lost on price point. Good video on educating me back again towards an investment. But will they make me faster on the bike? What other company out there leads the market? Afraid to google it up.

A lot of these comments are trashing Oakley, and that's fine, but I do just want to add my perspective. Over the last 4 years I have owned three pairs of Oakleys; Batwolf, Fuel Cell, and M2. I have never experienced any issues with the quality.

My old Oakley Flak xlj are from 2011 with photochromatic prescription lenses. They worked perfectly but my eyesight have changed to that of an old man and I need progressive eyeglasses now. Just wondering if its cheaper to buy a ticket to the US and buy them. Way to expensive in Europe.

In my experience, Oakley optic quality is top-notch, especially in the sporting segment. I've worn and sold most brands throughout the years, but will always use Oakley for a cycling sunglass.
