Cyclist befriends the driver who left him paralyzed

Freya Markowski drove through a red light April 27, 2016, and struck David Francisco on his bicycle, leaving him paralyzed. What Francisco did next allowed them both to heal.
Her car crashed into the cyclist, launching his body toward her windshield - and his face smacked into the glass right above her steering wheel, inches away from her face.
Freya Markowski, screaming, jumped out of her car and rushed to the bloody body.
“I’m sorry!” Markowski shouted.

Forgiveness is powerful and so many people believe they cannot forgive those who hurt them. its entirely possible and it can take work but its possible. To be forgiven, you need to forgive too. Well if she did set out to paralyse you she didn't do a good job ! I would have forgiven her, it's the ultimate thing you can do. My little sister was killed in an accident and I cannot forgive the family who did it but as they all died I don't have to. If they had lived I think that I would have been ruined by anger and rage and then more than one life would be ruined. As it is we never recovered from that day, it destroyed us all.

wow seriously. i hope she learned her lesson in using her freaking phone when driving she destroyed his mobility The purest love forgives hes an amazing guy. but shes destroyed his mobility for life. i think the age of drivers should be minimum 25 before they are allowed a license. whats the real story nowq shes saying she came off her meds. Everyone getting a driving license should be aasessed by a psychiatrist and have a doctor letter confirming they are not taking any mental meds. before they are allowed a license to drive something that weighs hundreds of pounds. if shes hearing voices she shouldjnt even have a license. quite rightly so she couldnt face herself not sure i could have forgiven her ruining my life. Shr almost killed him and ripped away his ability to lead a normal physical life never mind all the rehab and pain eh went through. madness.

I think those who injure, kill, neglect, mistreat, bully etc. others should have to go out in public and on TV/radio (in their own time and without pay = community service) and show real remorse and try to make amends by: teaching others about what happened and why, the dreadful results of what they did and how the accident could perhaps have been prevented = restorative justice AND education and prevention = good for everyone. I was very seriously injured (by a computer mis-diagnosis, doctors, nurses and so many more) in the UK. From the start I tried to get info, remedial care and help but it was all refused and denied with lies and cover-ups by NHS legal teams and the doctors' insurers. So I tried very hard to make myself as better as I could and to try to understand WHY it all went sop wrong and WHY the lies and cover-ups - them all ganging up against a VERY injured person. I tried from very early on to see it from their ;point of view and I'm very proud of that considering what I was having to live with: huge injustice plus a brain injury, throat, neck and nerve injuries, eye damage, mega psychological traumas and betrayals etc. It could have been SO different if they had listened to me, heard me and believed me AT EVERY POINT BEFORE THE UNNECESSARY OP = PREVENTION but it's too late for me. And then after: if only they had believed ME and not all the lies cooked up by the nurses and doctors, NHS legal teams and insurers. Can we change this so NOBODY else gets mistreated how I have been and still am after over twelve and a half years? For the want of a nail the shoe was lost... A stitch in time saves nine... and so on.
