They also hate EVs because of the same thing . Go to any site about EVs and I guarantee you there will be a ton of hate - mot being from oil/car trolls .

@@SKBKER Its the government. car sales have been at an all time low due to the economic climate. Nothing will change that. It costs a lot of money to keep a car on the road due to inflation and the plethora of taxes and stealth taxes you have to pay. Nevermind about how hard the law comes down on cyclists when a pedestrian runs across a busy road and into the path of a cyclist. knocking them flat. even drivers who knock cyclists off and almost kill them dont get as much punishment or jail time.

That guy really isn't a very good rider, IMO. I love the whoosh as you drop him, and then the extra wait for the chances of pedestrians still crossing as you go to pass the bus at the pedestrian crossing.

His filtering on the inside of the bus at that crossing was a bad idea as well. Lucky the bus driver appeared to notice and changed his angle to give him space. I did find it quite amusing at the next set he really went for it as if he was proving a point that he was faster. I had caught him originally in streatham, he did some risky filtering which gave him a gap over me, then we see the RLJ. I caught him at the lights at the top of streatham hill and when they turned green I left him for dead, not even visible on my rear camera. And that's a good mile and a half until he caught me again. So he knows i'm faster, accelerating and top speed.

I hate it when people dont follow basic road laws. When I am cycling I just think of it as driving a car but take into consideration my slower speed and make sure to give cars plenty of room.

Look a Bicycle can ride down a busy promenade with little risk. A car on the other hand is a different story. Traffic Lights were effected for vehicles; bicycles, their size and mass, really pose little danger to crowds. Plus, when on a bicycle, you're at such a risk your senses are fine tuned. The war on cyclists is preposterous. And in most cities/small towns the Bicycle is a much better way of travelling, for health/pollution/convenience/enjoyment.

I ride while always trying to work with other road users aside from following high way code I will be courteous drivers by letting them pull out by slowing down, signaling they can pull out if needed. The red light hoppers are basically the opposite of the drivers who feel they have a right to be in front of all cyclist, even when we are at the speed limit. London cycling really does make me think of minesweeper at any moment you can step on a bomb/ meet an arsehole.

I find the cycling sounds in your outro soothing. I've made some mistakes on a bike - like going down a hill in Bath and all the traffic stopped around the corner so I had to slam on the brakes, but ran out of braking room so pulled right around the car at the back of the queue (or else I would have ran into the back of them) and a bus driver had to stop.

But from the position you were in, it would have been clearly safer to roll into the space in front of the bus. So what if it's jumping the light? An advanced box for cyclists is missing here - it would solve this issue. Good on the cammer but I wouldn't personally be happy to start off between vehicles. I do kind of understand the guy behind if he wasn't planning to skip the lights , in that in half the junctions you have advanced stop and half not , which is a bit of a mixed message to cyclists. More than anything the junction designers seems to be at fault with that massive empty space in front of the traffic that could be used as an advanced stop box to improve safety.

Gaz, you broke the law anyway. Those zigzags at the crossing mean you cannot overtake the lead vehicle. Yet you overtook the bus and went over the crossing. This puts pedestrians on the crossing in danger.

Perhaps have a read of the legislation around zig-zags: The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 section 28 "a zig-zag line shall convey the requirement that, whilst any motor vehicle (in this regulation called “the approaching vehicle”) or any part of it is within the limits of a controlled area and is proceeding towards the signal-controlled crossing facility to which the controlled area relates, the driver of the vehicle shall not cause it or any part of it- (a)to pass ahead of the foremost part of any other motor vehicle proceeding in the same direction; or (b)to pass ahead of the foremost part of a vehicle which is stationary for the purpose of complying with the indication given by a traffic light signal for controlling vehicular traffic."

@@CycleGaz perhaps the law should be changed to ensure it does apply to cyclists. As we have seen an upward trend in people killed or seriously injured by cyclists. The tendency for cyclists to race toward a crossing and overtake large vehicles at speed combined with the tendency for many pedestrians to be staring down at their phones creates a dangerous situation. I suppose you didn't break the law by moving across the crossing whilst pedestrians were still using it either?

@@CycleGaz there's nothing wrong with changing a law if the goal is to improve road safety. It's not a competition. Ideally I would like to see 0 people killed or seriously injured on the roads. 99% of pedestrians KSI involve motorised vehicles, but pedestrians KSI by cyclists has doubled in the past decade. The rate of these incidents has increased disproportionately to the number of cyclists on the roads. Maybe it's not a huge problem.. but if you can reduce the issue.. Why would you not?

The lights had changed before completing the overtake. That pedestrians were still in the crossing area at that time means they must have left the kerb way too late. Especially the woman darting from the blind area in front of the bus.

Gaz in some circumstances you have to 'nudge' the law slightly . He was in a bad position whether his fault or not . You could have helped him a little . It's not like he was speeding or using his phone in a car . It would have been safe to let him go further forward . I can't really accept what you did but there we go .

His position really wasn't that bad. Only his cycling is bad. There is plenty of space behind that car he could have stopped in. And because of that as the car sets off, he can just wait a split second, then set off with nothing much to his right. We really shouldn't pander to these requests from people that are willing to flagrantly break the law because they think it doesn't apply to them. And for what? Because he wants to be at work 20 seconds quicker.

I live in a large town, the problem we have is cyclists on the pavement. I was once hit by a cyclists riding on the pavement who tried to blame me for being in the way!

@@tomblewomble3369 It's pointless to be "legal" when you and the drivers are a lot more comfortable when you move into the space in front of the car. You are "technically" breaking the law, but you're not threatening anyone, because there is a lot of space in front of the cars. He'd also be able to see the light. Being overly literal with the law isn't a virtue in an of itself. If he wants to be so orderly he should have stopped behind the bus instead of squeezing in.
