Cyclocross World Championships 2023 Women Elite Preview

This might well be the race I'm anticipating most this weekend, the likelihood is we'll be crowning a brand new megatalent. But which megatalent will it be? Will it be van Empel, will it be Pieterse or will it be a complete shock?

On that course with the huge road section finish . 1st Van Empel . 2nd Peterson 3rdAlvarado

1. Van Empel, 2. Pieterse 3.Inge van der Heijden.... as you know, it only takes one slip or mechanical and all bets are off... you can never get too comfortable even with a lead.. mental pressure is a major factor.. great review.. as a wild card I'd have to go with Persico for a podium as well..

On that course it's hard to see past Van Empel; it's just not technical enough for Pieterse. Persico is a good bet for the podium; has a big engine, and her lack of technical skills won't be an issue. Brand, Alvarado & Worst seem in good form, and may challenge for 3rd.

Persico has been accident prone this year, perhaps she doesn't have the technical ability of Fem and Puck, or even the stamina.
