Very informative one. I think the low wind shear along tauktae's projected path is also a reason for its rapid intensification. But as said in the video sea surface temperature is rising in arabian sea. In 2019, super cyclone kyarr and extremely severe cyclone maha, in 2020- cyclone gati rapidly intensified from cyclone to very severe cyclone in 12hrs. Now in 2021-tauktae. In the last 2yrs arabian sea has produced more powerful cyclones

Very informative as usual. But is there also a La Nina effect which could result in these cyclones getting stronger?
@ThePrintIndia3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bimal. Yes, La Niña definitely does play a role. We always see more cyclones during that period. But the rise in sea surface temperatures is occurring irrespective. Thanks for writing in. -S.Ramesh

But it cannot be left unnoticed that the fraction of severe cyclones in total is greater in the Arabian sea than that of Bayof Bengal according to the 1891 to 2000 statistics. This shows that Arabian sea cyclones have been more likely to be severe ones.

Nice presentation. One confusion though, you said 'Anticlockwise' direction. Whereas to my knowledge directions depend on the effect of 'Coriolis Forces' and thus 'Anticlockwise' in Northern hemisphere and 'Clockwise' in Southern Hemisphere.
