David Attenborough : Blue Planet II (BBC)
@thirdeye7764 жыл бұрын
As other people have indicated, David Attenborough had popularized this statement as well as variations like "We know more about the surface of the moon than the bottom of our oceans". BTW, DA is possibly the best narrator of Natural phenomenon and I really have enjoyed all his creations. Till date how many people have explored the Moon leave aside Mars? It was our Chandrayaan-1 that found presence of water/ice molecules on moon via Minerology mapper. Keep in mind that the moon was "conquered" for > 50 years and still we were the first to find it in the second decade of this millennium. But our Chandrayaan-2 lander got damaged/incommunicable so we do not even have a real proof of water surface of the moon. Compared to the ocean depth where we have accessed far more with bathyscapes, subs and other deep diving equipment. While the world is there surprising us with many new things every day, the above statement/variations of it is pretty meaningless other than being catchy. I call these "A naturalist's tall tale" ;-)

@cool Knight Hi.... I think you have got loads of time in life to have actually replied to my insignificant comment....
@thirdeye7764 жыл бұрын
@cool Knight The problem is that this statement is being quoted/copied/referred to by every Tom, Dick & Sally with absolutely no exercising to their grey matter and touched by ditto heads saying that we have loads of time on our hands, correcting their "insignificant message" ;-) www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2019/vikram-lander-found This is the best that NASA can find as to what happened to Vikram lander for God's sake in our closest celestial neighbor and these specimens are blindly throwing over epithets. @Siddesh, I too have lot of time in my hands :-D

@@advaitV25 How do you know I ignored the rest? Don't you think that if I could identify the erroneous species from a blurry underwater photograph that I could catch other nuances of this presentation? Better to apply one's mind before shooting off one's mouth. N'est-ce pas?
@advaitV254 жыл бұрын
@@vinody I wasn't pointing you "ignoring" everything else as a way of saying you took nothing from it. Quite obvious from the fact that you nit picked such a trivial detail. It's just that what you pointed at was irrelevant and boils down to semantics. I won't take offence to the patronising tone, but just check the attitude here and there.

Not sure if scientists are thinking in that direction, but assuming that whale never changes it's song and variation in song attribution to new species might not be correct !! They may be singing differently in different oceans but belong to the same species..

Good to hear species threatened of extinction are somehow fighting their own battles of survival. Even other animals are doing it too and are seen sometimes surprisingly after being supposed to have been extinct. Hopefully, this planet and its inhabitants might find ways and means to survive and save this beautiful planet.
