Thanks, Peter. Yeah, I'm well pleased with how they turned out. I was hesitant about the colour coding, but I find it really adds something and makes the blacking out much more subtle.

Cyd inspired by you I did my with some G3 in place last week, haven't sealed them yet, apparently you can use some good quality hard wax too

Yes I've heard that too, but when I asked the lights SME he turned his nose up at the suggestion. I don't think it would last long and would need repeating often. You don't need to remove the lights - you could just mask up and then lacquer. Bake with one of those infrared heaters like you use on patios or this sort of thing amzn.to/3oFRw1H

A year ago I paid my Lexus dealership to do something to my wife’s car lenses and yours looks twice as good. I guess I’m redoing them for her.

I'll bet they just polished the covers up, but didn't replace the lacquer protection. You don't have to take the headlights off the car to do this, you could mask up and then just let the lacquer cure naturally (if you're gonna do that, leave it a month before polishing)

@@CycloneCyd I don’t think they sanded it like you did, they’re still yellowish, it’s like they just polished it. Like the yellow couldn’t be removed. Now I know what to do.

Hi Cyd, just did this on my 08 Saab 93, thanks for the great video! After the 3rd layer, my headlights got a bit grainy. Would this be due to too much paint? Is there any easy solution? Thank you for all your videos!

Ok thanks! Yeah, a little TLC goes a long way❗ Keep the lacquer coats light - it's very easy to be tempted to put more on when it's not needed.

Good diy fix for a potential mot failure. Also you can spray over 600grit scratches with excellent results. Then 1200 / buff if you have orange peel to get rid of👌

Great tip! Thanks for that. Also baking reduces orange peel on a 2k lacquer. I've found that HB Body C496 to be rock hard after an hour at 70C.

I personally wouldn’t use clear coat cutting compound on a buffer head after sanding is much better and is easier to maintain

Naturally. HB Body Pro C496. I've used it a few times now and found it to be excellent. I even used it on my alloys - couldn't bake them in the oven so put them in the airing cupboard for a week each ✔

Yep, get the best lacquer you can in your market. A 2k is best and should be UV stable.

I did exactly that few days ago. Despite doing everything as you said my headlights are still a bit hazy. Not by much, but the are not crystal crystal clear. Any idea why Cyd?

You don't say what car, but on some you can get a light haze on the inside of the front cover, somewaht similar to the haze you get on the inside of windscreens.

@@famousamoss If you could get a small microfibre duster in through the indicator or H7 apertures you might be able to do something, but TBH I think you need a bigger aperture. Also you really need to be able to clean the projector lens on both sides. For that you need to get the projector out. You could either take the front cover off or try this method kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIO5gaSifsegbac you could ball up a microfibre cloth on a stick to clean the cover and do the lens directly in your hand.

Just a tip, don't wax it the first two months, it takes a long time for paint to cure to 100%. After that you can wax it all day long.

Yes, perfectly. A much better method than using a heat gun because it's more even and controlled.
