My grandmother's house got swept away like a piece of paper. Videos like this give me an insight as to what happened during the storm and I thank you for it. Correction, the buildings you mentioned were concrete were cinder block. Still usually quite sturdy but not as strong as reinforced concrete. Just an observation. But wow damn that was strong. I have been through hurricanes, never that bad!

I thought the footage of Hurricane Michael from last year was bad, but Dorian has far exceeded that. This is the most intense storm I've ever seen video coverage of hands down. I'm glad you're safe but able to document how ferocious a Category 5 is. They seem so beautiful when they're over open water, but under the clouds, hell is unleashing. Thanks for all you do!
@justinharris51955 жыл бұрын
Jordan Martirossian keep in mind josh recorded the western“weak” side of Michaels eye wall. Which had winds of at least 135mph. The east side of the eye wall which Mexico beach got hit with had 160mph winds, which are only 25mph weaker than Dorian. But the damage potentially increases exponentially. You should watch the Mexico beach footage of hurricane Michael, it’s an 1hour 48minute long video, the worst of the Indus are between, the 55minute and 1 and 18minute mark. It’s on par with this one.

My sister in law and nephew were in Marsh Habour during Dorian. She kept sending me messages about the conditions up until the eye came ashore. Lost contact for 36 hours and was praying for the best. There were a few boats whos VHF radios still functioned after the worse was over. The operators were sending out messages for all people accounted for, was happy when informed they both were safe.

Involved with SCIP (Structural Concrete Insulated Panels) and helped build several projects over the years including a home in Crystal Beach, Texas. Hurricane Ike had a direct hit on Crystal Beach. Once the builder was allowed in to inspect the structure we found what we were both hoping to find. The house was still there. All but one house in the area were totally gone. The SCIP home had less that $2,000 damage! The damage was caused by the debris from another home striking the SCIP railing around the home. The builder had brought a generator, plugged it into the electrical panel and everything powered up. A FIMA team came by to view the home. The team was so impressed a white paper written making observations the construction process was a recommended building process.

Simply incredible footage! I've lived through several hurricanes myself, including the dreaded Andrew but that was a walk in the park compared to how Dorian hit the Bahamas. How terrifying. Poor people. I hope they don't go forgotten like so many other disasters eventually do. This isn't even a "disaster" to me...its so much worse, complete annihilation. Please stay strong Bahamas!

@justinharris51954 жыл бұрын
CC True I’m sorry but to say the damage from Andrew was a “walk in the park” compared to this storm is kinda biased. The damage looks the same to me. Remember, Dorian was a slow moving storm, it had time to do all of the damage that it did, not to mention that most of the damage came from surge while Andrews damage came from mostly wind.
