I remember riding out this storm in Sayulita where i was visiting at the time. the night before the hurricane came I went to bed knowing there was a tropical storm, the next morning people were evacuating because it had turned into a monster cat 5. I think we watched the storm track in the front desk of the hotel with the really nice front desk gal until early evening when it made landfall, and exactly as the hotel owner said it would, the storm went way south of us and we were very sheltered by the mountains and peninsulas. by the next morning it was a beautiful sunny day with minimal damage to the town, by the next day things were back to normal operation. I genuinely can't believe I was that close to that monster and only had to survive a night of heavy rain.
