Finds out his wife is just a copy of the woman he really loved, the woman he really loved was kidnapped and has been held for god knows how long, he didn't even realize they were swapped, and now on top of all of that the son he had with his copy wife is dying because _he_ failed to protect him. The seriously amount of life changing events Cyclopse endured in this episode alone is kinda impressive. I can see how he might not be able to take the mental strain of physically giving his son away at that moment.

Scott had good reason to feel the way he did. He grew up without his parents or his brother nearby. Depending on the setting, Scott was in a coma after he and Alex were parachuted from the plane because of landing hard. That was due to the parachute being on fire. Christopher Summers, aka Corsair of the Starjammers, believed both his sons died in the attempt to save their lives. Had he known that they survived, he would've gotten them back. Scott grew up in an orphanage because his powers were developing and caused a lot of potential foster parents to turn him away. To see his own son suffer because of Sinister, it was too much for him. Like his own father, Scott had to give up all hope of raising him. What he doesn't know, is that he has already met him. Nathan Summers, aka Cable, grows up not resenting his parents. They did what they could. This was the best possible chance to give Nathan an opportunity to live. Like his old man, Cable has a deep disgust towards people like Sinister and Apocalypse.

Scott knows that his father didn't abandon him deliberately. That's his anxiety, talking, and his own memory of feeling that he had been abandoned as a child. Very few X-Men in that mansion can relate to his situation, save for Rogue and Magneto. But still, their abandonment was because of the mutation. Scott's abandonment was through very spectacular tragic circumstances. No parents, no brother, and waking up from a coma, six months after the accident in an orphanage. And then, of course, his mutation manifesting, denying him the ability to look anyone in the naked eye ever again. Charles rescued him, while he invited the others to join and formed the original X-Men. That also sets him apart. Unlike the others, he had nowhere to go. And maybe that was why he worked so hard as Xavier's student. Beneath the more noble reasons he didn't want to be abandoned, or discarded again. I think deep down, losing both Charles and storm, and now faced with the possibility of ever seeing his son again, has brought it back to the surface. And yet it's giving into those fears and walking away from his kid, he actually commits a very act that he says he would never do.

i mean feeling alone sure but why would he have felt abandoned as a child? as far as he knew his parents and brother all died and he only survived through a miracle. he wouldnt actually feel abandoned until he figured out corsair was his dad, at which point he spent about half a day being pissed at him and thinking he was abandoned until corsair cleared that up, but he was a grown man by then.

Now, if 97 is truly the continuation of TAS, then at least one of the X-men should remember that all they have to do is infect Wolverine with Nathan's techno-virus so that Wolverine's body can create the anti-virus serum while preventing him from dying to the virus due to his healing factor. This was from the episode that Bishop and Cable were fighting with Apocalypse in TAS.

Honestly judging from Scott's extreme reluctance to give up Nathan, he's already proving he's a better father than Omni-Man. It really makes me respect the character. I also feel Jean's Clone deserves a lot of sympathy as well, conisdering how she had the emotions and memories of the orginal, loving Scott and their child just as much the orginal could if she were in her place. I could Scott being hurt for a long time after this, propably confused who love more, the woman he spent most of his life or the one he married who later bore their child. This is a pretty heartbreaking moment for Cyclops. He didn't deserve this. No child should ever be seperated from their parants. If any one is at fault here, it's Mr. Sinister. That asshole even laughed over what he did to Nathan and is propably taking a lot of pleasure watching those two goe this tragedy. Mr. Sinister is now without a doubt, the biggest asshole in the X-Men franchise. What he did to Scott, Jean, her clone and Nathan is unforgivable.

Stayed there in genetically cloned duplicates of their body. Oh yeah, it was their minds that were taken to the future. Their actual bodies stayed and would have died if Nick Fury wasn’t being a weirdo and spying on them….they were on Honeymoon at the time…….Comics. Forced back to this time after defeating Apocalypse (temporarily), and cable had reached the age of twelve. So they were in this (now heavily altered or no longer canon or destroyed) timeline for twelve years. Oh the clone was to be used either to heal Cable, replace Cable or be used by Apocalypse as a new body. Whoooo. Still not done. Ok. I’m gonna leave out about 25 years of convoluted story. Sinister, Xcutioners song, MLF, Stryfe, Genesis, Askanis son, XForce. Hope Summer and the, make Bishop a genocidal, world destroying baby killer storyline. Nate Grey and AOA. Goblin Queen/Inferno. Asteroid M. Genosha. …………. Ok. More modern. Some time shenanigans and we learn that the uh last three Cables were timeline divergences made by the…….actual Cable to protect the timeline. This Cable is actually still a young adult or teen. The other Cables are all on board as time travelers and actual Cables themselves. So they know that young Cable is coming to kill them, know that he has to kill them and let him. …………I’m just gonna stop there. Yeah. Oh and although many of these timelines are now defunct. Somehow they function as a family. Including that daughter, oh her name is Rachel and used phoenix as a code name for awhile. Clan Askani was her idea. She shifted through two timelines. Oh wait. Sorry. I’m done. Yeah. That

Madeline knows. The real Jean Grey arrived at the house and her husband and friends abandoned her! Cast her out for being a clone. She didn't choose to be created. No-one noticed any change. They abandoned Jean and then they abandoned Madeline! Still, they mourn losing Nathan together in a phycic bond, and his relationship with Jean is strained, so clearly he has not bounced Madeline completely, and when Madeline dies, Scott does cry for her. Clearly a bit of him truly cared for Madeline.

The issue is that the future cure can still take a while to be made. Even if a full cure could be made as oppose to regular treatments taken every so often. Also factoring in getting the timeband to work again and Bishop is from an apocalyptic future, Scott and Jean are still potentially missing out on a good bit of Nathan's childhood.

quick question, wasn't Wolverine exposed to a similar virus once and didn't his body in turn make the anti bodies needed to counter it? Why not do the same here? expose Wolverine to the virus and then apply the cure to Cyclop's and Jean's baby?

Admittedly, this speculation on my part, but since Cable aka Future Nathan was the one who exposed Wolverine to the Techno Organic virus to make anti-bodies, making anti bodies for Nathan here and now could cause a time paradox? Again, I might be wrong...

I feel like the writer should have written Madelyn Pryor's travel to the future with Nathan instead and helped his upbringing while Cyclops can still be with the Original Jean in the same timeline. Ultimately having Madelyn Pryor live off in the future instead of writing her off. Just my suggestion.

It's probably not the same virus that was used in that two parter; I'm pretty sure Beast said it was an advanced version of it. Plus, knowing Mr. Sinister, the new virus probably takes into account Wolverine's healing factor.

@@LadyLeomon It's not the exact same one; it's a variant of that virus but I bet there are huge differences to the original. As I said, Mr. Sinister modified it enough to where nothing in their time could cure it, not even Wolverine's healing factor; he's smart enough to take into account any known healing factors that could prevent a quick and easy fix.
