Nice. I understood about 75% of that. I've been learning Welsh again for a couple of years, but I don't have anyone to practice with, so progressing is a bit difficult! It's useful just to be able to listen to someone speaking naturally in the language, so please keep up the vlogs! :)

Are the English loanwords due to an inadequate welsh translation?

Sometimes yes - sometimes it's because very few people actually use the Welsh words and so it can sound pretentious or pompous to use them! I'm trying to speak as I would naturally to my father and friends, although being a Welsh teacher I've found myself forcing more "proper" Welsh words into my speech than I usually would! It's not uncommon at all to hear "joio" (enjoying) and even "iwsio" (using) even though we all know the actual words for them (mwynhau and defnyddio). It's a fine balance - I don't want us to lose our beautiful Welsh words and have it too diluted by English, but at the same time I wouldn't want to make myself incomprehensible to all but the most highly educated! :)

Gwyneth Angharad Otherwise like the Irish, the British might as well have conquered the welsh language. I enjoy your videos, and I am yet to take your welsh lessons. You and a small music video taught me how to pronounce Llanfairpg.
