Hi Keith the bulldog clip was inspired great idea, really enjoyed this especially the part where it didn’t start first time , kind of makes me feel a little bit normal again , I thought that only happened to me “it’s got fuel and a spark why won’t you start.” that’s just me all over. Take Care Stay Safe Everyone Regards Dave 👍😎🏴

Maybe common knowledge but the trick I learned a long time ago when a carb is flooded is to hold your foot to the floor and crank. It should clear it out and start. Pretty much always worked when I worked at a used car lot in high school in the 80s. Thanks again for the great content.

11:00 use of bull dog clip, bloody great idea. I've not fitted a "A" Series rocker gasket fro 30 years, could never get it right. Not as thick as you look are you Keith 😎

And another masterclass in Mini maintenance Keith and another Mini definitely saved. That will be a really good little daily driver that can be taken to shows. I didn't have bulldog clips so I fitted a BMW head .. 🤣

Good excuse for a BMW head conversion :)

In my Mini racing days, I used to Evo Stik the cork gasket to the rocker cover, with a smear of grease where it contacted the head. The gasket would then last a whole racing season despite being removed several times to check the tappets. The advantage of Evo Stik is that it’s easily removed with petrol or thinners. Another suggestion would be to re-torque the head nuts after running the engine up to temperature, as well as re-checking the tappets.

Cheers, I will 100% be re-torqueing the head now it's been run up to temperature

That tip on the rocker gasket worked great for me on the van last year. I did a full bead of glue so that ain't coming off anytime soon 🥴

Nice job, should quieten down when valve clearances are rechecked, i've got some narrow feeler gauges which is better on worn rockers 😊

Thanks for the tip on rocker gasket. What do you think of the digital torque wrench that you were using? Thinking of getting one 🤔
