Cylinder Head Temperature Differences | BMW R1200GS Adventure (Testing with GS-911)

I've recently read online of someone whose cylinder head temperatures differed by 20 degrees from one side to the other, and that made me think. What is my BMW R1200GS Adventure's cylinder head temperatures like and do they differ from side to side?
I also discuss why one cylinder could be running hotter (or colder) than the other. I measured the temperatures with an infrared thermometer and a Hex Innovate GS-911 scan tool.

Hi Richard. I prefer bikes and carbs with carbs, as I don't trust electronics (LOL), so it makes a lot of sense. I would not buy a modern BMW without first scanning it. I've scanned two friends' bikes and both had issues (one was a rebuilt bike with parts from three different bikes which the seller didn't disclose!). The feature I like most is the live data... mostly to learn what the stuff means. I will try to make more videos on those in future.

Very interesting data. I have 4 old beemers, and these engines all do run a wee bit hotter on the left side. A boxer engine is not symetrical, and the small differences in intakes, exausts and heat distribution do actually result in different temperatures. After many years of aircooled BMWs I´d love to get a taste of a modern bike, and I think the K25 would suit my needs best. So what you´re doing here is exactly what I´d like to know about this bike! Hi, thanks for the comment and info on the boxers running at slightly different temps. That is good to know. These older R1200GSs are so easy to work on. I prefer them over the newer ones with all the rider aids and electronics. Enjoy the Winter. Funnily enough, Winter is better for riding here than summer :) Thanks again for watching.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I removed my ABS pump. The older BMWs (before 2007) has a Servo ABS system that is prone to failing. I will make a video on that sometime. Thanks again for the support! (I tried Google Translate, not sure how well it did, but here goes: Hvala što ste gledali i odvojili vrijeme za komentiranje. Skinuo sam ABS pumpu. Stariji BMW-i (prije 2007.) imaju Servo ABS sustav koji je sklon kvaru. Jednom ću napraviti video o tome. Još jednom hvala na podršci!)
