Already daily drive my '94 SJ410 Jimny corsica (or katana corsica for indonesian domestic market) for 5 years now and i don't have any problem with it. Live in bandung city with 8 million population with this car and just drove it like any other people with their shiny new car. It has 1.0L engine (F10A engine) which is crazy reliable, The AC is much needed because it's always hot here in indo (around 29-34 degree celcius at daytime) and it's blazing cold, Adding android screen for the infotaiment system, change all light into LED, change the original fan with the electric fan, and yea just like that just feels great bout it. This badass little old car run 50KM++ on daily basis (literally everyday), often to go to other city like jakarta (with those crazy crowded traffic), and even doing thousands of thousands kilometers of road trip to another island in indo. It is about the journey with the car that create bonds, that is why i still decided to keep this little thing hahaha Anyway, if u wanna see what the car looked like you can just visit my channel (this account who make comment)

By claiming scooters are dangerous because they are slower make no sense because the fault is not with the scooter but other vehicles. That be like saying walking is more dangerous than bikes because they are slower

I've had the Samurai as my only car for just over 6 years and there is no doubt in my mind that this is the best car ever made. Seriously. It weights way less than the lightest Porsche 911. It is geared like a motorbike - extremely long 2nd and 3rd. It revs up to 7.500rpm. As a result - on twisty roads I would overtake just about anything including BMW 5 series, BMW 6 or BMW X5 M. On a twisty mountain road Samurai is a serious contender. In winter it is the king of the roads and off the road - especially after it's rained it reliably gets to places where no other vehicle except a tractor ever will. Other SUV stand no chance as they are all desperately heavy. And every car park - even if it's full - has a spot where nobody could fit. It's reserved for the Samurai. Then there are his capabilities of what he can transport. Which are beyond belief. Either inside, on the roof or pulled. 8m long wooden beams? No problem - just tie them on the roof top. I know it because I've built a house on a place where there was no road. On the top of a hill! There were a few things which I got pulled up by a tractor but tons of bricks, people, and just about everything else was transported by this little warrior. In mud, snow, ice, rain... Nothing ever stopped him. On one occasion in winter he was loaded with bricks and pulled a lorry up the hill loaded with some more bricks. And what did I give him back? Nothing! I just used him. What this car withstood is indescribable. A brilliant brilliant humble servant. And a tough tough warrior. I've beaten him so badly I will have to sell him. It breaks my heart but there's no way round it. I was busy building the house. Which has come to be a memorial to the Samurai. I know how silly it seems but had anyone gone through what we have they would understand. It doesn't just put smile on your face every time you drive it - this is love. This thing doesn't just have soul - it's a being. It's a Samurai. It really is.

Your story is amazing, I love hearing it! I've been working on getting my wife comfortable with riding too. My goal is to ride through as much of Asia as possible, but I want her riding her own bike, not just on the back of mine, haha. So far, the longest I’ve gotten her to ride without complaints is about 2 hours!

It's awesome that you want her to also ride. I think it is much more fun than sitting on the back. My wife also pillioned initially, but enjoyed riding much more. Gaining experience for safety is probably the most important thing. May you have thousands of fun miles together!

That bag is CRAP. I sourced one before they cam to the US and used it twice without much issue. Then today, I am packing to go on a trip and virtually every piece of canva strap deteriorated in my hand. The D rings simply fell through the canvas, the tightening straps just fell off in my hand along with the handle. The bag was always stored inside a garage and never ever in the sun unless I was riding with it. Great concept - poor execution. SAVE YOUR MONEY FYI - the filler nozel is super awkward as this gent mentioned.

By the way, I rode all bikes from 125cc scooters to 1600cc monsters and yet I always end up riding on a 2005 or 2006 BMW GS. Iconic bike, in my opinion. Years back, I had a 2006 and the shaft said that's it, I ain't going any further. I took the baby to my mechanic and he said I have a shaft from a model built for touring which would fit nicely on my gs. I don't remember the model name. I said do it. He put the shaft on and I clocked 260 km on my bike. The speedometer would hit the max and was stopped there by the pin. I know the speed as I have seen it on my phone. Wild days. This was around 2018.

I'm 52 and been riding since 17, when I first started riding, nobody I knew would be seen dead on a scooter/moped, including me. Those scooters of yesteryear are a different thing altogether to what we have now though. I've had all kinds of motorbikes, my last one was a Yamaha YZF600 and my new bike is a Kawasaki J300. If I'd had that YZF when I passed at 17 I might not be here now because of the risks I took and like he said, there's some powerful scooters out there. It's not the bike, it's the rider that's to blame.

I love it when people think that on a scooter, they don’t have to wear protective clothing. But they feel like they have to on a motorcycle. Physics are physics. If you’re sliding down the asphalt at 30 miles an hour it doesn’t matter if you’re on a scooter or a 200 hp motorcycle. Without gear, you’re going to lose the same amount of skin at that speed sliding on the ground whether you fell off of a scooter or a motorcycle.

@@Spartansrule118 yeah I think they are. Several engines replaced back when they were released. I think the 2005 - 2007 bikes wear the bad ones. Mines was one of the early bikes. In my case the bike had also sat for a decade. Great for low mileage but I think it causes other issues. Several old forum posts on the topic.

Interesting ! thank you ! I believe when I did the Dave's Mod to my bike I simply just drilled the Main jet out to the next size of my drill index. I too was more worried about cooling rather than performance increase.... though that would be great if I got that ! i left the stock pilot jet in the carb. I replaced the pilot air screw with an after market version like you got so I could adjust it easier. and took it for a ride.... there was no real performance change but starting was easier just because I adjusted the pilot air screw first to fastest idle...slowed the idle and adjusted to fastest again..... that alone made it really easy to start. I've not checked the spark plug color in some time now but it was brown....not black and not the stock jetting color of light grey However my fuel mileage did take a nose dive as I changed the front sprocket at the same time to a 13T but kept the stock rear sprocket. I think it went down to around 20MPG or something like that..... I live at 4000' ASL and that does make a big difference on performance but if I hit it just right with throttle alone it will wheelie but there is no fear of going over backwards..... I have also lowered the bike by a whopping 4" front and rear and the bike sits at 31" seat height that is a HUGE CHANGE ! it made the bike a keeper for me it's stock 37" seat height was a danger to me and the bike ! changing the seat height was the best Mod I have done to the bike yet ! foot pegs ( longer and wider) hand protection , flexible mirrors and back rack really help.... but nothing matters if the bike is too tall to touch the ground ! I also added a LED speedo on the bike just so I would have a Tachometer! when cleaning the carb keep the carb cleaner OFF the diaphragm! hit the Diaphragm with WD-40 to help keep it soft , just a light coat and wipe it off ! (inside and out) I have a 4.5 gal Clark tank on mine..... and I've never ran out of gas on the road with it...

Everything is great, you need to use red lock tite. BMW service manual states to replace the ball joint but as long as there is no up and down play you are good. I bought socket and cut it in the center to fit Allen key. I used zip ties to stretch the ring and slipped it on. Use red lock tite and monitor with a sharpie mark. The blue lock tite will start to loosen up minute you hit the gravel road.
