Cylindrical and Spherical Conversions

In this video we discuss how to convert back and forth between cylindrical form and spherical form for a point in 3D space. We rely heavily on conversions we've already derived in previous videos between cylindrical, spherical and rectangular form. Examples of conversions will come in a later video. It's very delicate that with this kind of topic you use the dot to indicate a product because it could lead to a mistake. It could stand for the dot product. Spherical coordinates, together with cylindrical coordinates are widely used in vector calculus, differential geometry, continuum mechanics, the kind of mathematics where the dot product is law.

None, it's just a convention. Mathematicians and Physicists have not reached an agreement on how to label the spherical coordinates. Some use Phi and others use Theta for the same orientation. There's no rule unless you have a classical textbook on a very specific domain.

but i think the order is important to verify the right hand rule so i think in the orderd pair in the video should be (row , phi ,theta )
