That is so cool. It's so close to being a perfect copy. You wouldn't even know the difference. Amazing work.

OHHHHHH !, I LOVE THE OLD CYLONS. On a serious note: I'm tired of the self-serve checkouts thanking me in a woman's voice. I told the Home Depot woman assistant that they should replace it with a Cylon voice as people would shop there just to hear it. I honestly think it would be a brilliant marketing move.

What a coincidence! I'm also waiting for a text-to-speech voice that sounds like the Cylons to be made... someday.

Thanks- it's a catch-22- to sound acccurate it has to be DULL but their layers of Dolby A and worn out tape heads, and MANY trips to tape is impossible to replicate. Not even they could do it scene to scene, day to day :)

Damn that's gotten really good. Can you maybe one day make a video showing the software you used and how you manipulated it.

Thanks... maybe one day AI/computers will be able to do it but this is all analogue gear... old tubes, transformers, tape... the old stuff!

@@cylonvoiceguyif you would ever consider showing off the gear you used and the settings you had. I'd love to see, I've been trying to recreate this since the first time I heard Night flight to Venus by Boney M, they did a pretty great job of replicating it, I'm sure seeing the setting of hardware will ring some of us closer to emulating it digitally. Great job though, it's really spot in.

@@cylonvoiceguy you're an absolute saint, I'm pretty excited about these videos. If I manage to ever get as close as you digitally, I absolutely won't be one of those people who tried to charge for it either, this should belong to everyone.

I suspect this is possible with digital gear that's available now, but one would have to spend a great many days and probable a great many dollars learning how to configure it all to approximate that sound.

The original Cylon voice over actor seems to have had a deeper voice as a starting point or they modulated the pitch first before the effects synthesis. Other than that, the overlaid effect is damn near the same.
@cylonvoiceguy9 ай бұрын
I'm sure it was as rich, broadcast-style voice that was very unique, and the many trips to 35mm tape gave it this super nice warm saturation that resonates beautifully. Mine lacks low end, and is somewhat muddy compared to a stratified "announcer" type voice
@dan_hitchman0079 ай бұрын
@@cylonvoiceguy Though, it is a high compliment to you and your patience that you have pretty much nailed the process by which they created the voice distortion.

I loved the original BSG and the ships and the cylons. I'm hoping Marvel/Disney. Will get director Sam Raimi to direct. A trilogy of films using ROM Spaceknight. From the 1979-85 Marvel comics series.

Again, it’s just a vocoder. But you can do a bit better using the Bitspeek VST.
It’s very close to the original……I think the original sounds more muddy at times, with nice flaws they couldn’t produce in a way they do now.
@cylonvoiceguy Жыл бұрын
yes... I'm not going to tape 4-5 times like they did for the complete editing/mixing/mastering... it wouldn't survive my old machines- they had the best with very high signal-to-noise ratio but still got degraded!
@wouterp515 Жыл бұрын
@@cylonvoiceguy at the time of making the series, they’d probably made due with the degradation, unlike today with new software and hardware, but to me that imperfection makes it somehow perfect…..but maybe I’m just wallowing in nostalgia😉. You did a terrific job!
